The Controller performs tasks necessary to ensure the integrity of accounting information. The Controller is responsible for supervision of all accounting functions for the organization: month-end closing; financial reporting; inventory control; shared services accounting; internal controls; and financial regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:- Lead the accounting department and drive productivity and continuous process improvement in the accounting function to deliver greater efficiency and effectiveness
- Oversee the monthly and quarterly closing processes by setting time-lines, assisting team members as needed, completing/reviewing detailed and complex calculations, reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Perform equity accounting and administration tasks
- Oversee the SEC reporting process, reviewing consolidated financial statements, footnotes and supplemental information, and driving disclosure committee meetings
- Stay abreast of new accounting pronouncements and SEC reporting trends, assessing impact to the company and implementing applicable pronouncements
- Prepare and present Controller’s report for quarterly Audit Committee meetings
- Serve as accounting subject matter expert in implementation of various company projects and initiatives, assisting with detailed design and testing
- Manage relationships with external auditors, outsourced internal auditors, and various service providers
- Monitor performance of physical inventories at store and DC locations and provide guidance to the Inventory Accounting department
- Drive Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts and implement internal controls where necessary
- Provide oversight and support for various audits: external, internal controls, inventory bank, mall, unemployment, health and welfare, unclaimed property, etc.
- Communicate with departments regarding financial information and establish strong relationships with departmental peers
- Support the planning and budgeting activities led by the Chief Financial Officer
- Complete various tasks and projects in partnership with senior leadership

- Bachelors or higher degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required
- Minimum of 10+ years accounting experience, preferably 3+years public accounting experience and public company experience
- Previous experience as a Controller preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong GAAP knowledge and Sarbanes-Oxley experience
- Demonstrated success leading a high-performing team and consistently producing results that exceed expectations
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail. Able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment and re-prioritize with ease
- A sharp eye for evaluating existing processes and identifying gaps and areas for improvement, as well as the ability to develop and implement new processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Ability to develop strong cross-functional business partnerships and to lead and influence others outside of direct reporting lines
- Superior professionalism, discretion, and judgment
- Lawson experience a plus
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
