Investment Associate

Job Summary

As an Investment Associate, you will perform a wide range of duties to support investment advisors at Raymond James who use or would like to learn about specific departments (Investment Products, Investment Strategy and Fixed Income and Currencies).

Reporting directly to the SVP, Investment Strategy, Portfolio Advisory, Products & Trading, the successful candidate will be an effective communicator, a team player, analytical and data-oriented, organized, and have strong attention to detail. You will work with and coordinate with other department heads as necessary to ensure recurring publications, data requests, SharePoint websites, folders, and presentations are kept up-to-date, as well as respond to requests for general information from investment advisors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high-level of customer service, and respond to requests for information about Investment Products, using internally generated reports, third-party research, available subscription services/software, internet sources, and company websites;
  • Create and keep up-to-date various Investment Products publications, reference guides, whitepapers, PowerPoint presentations, databases, excel files, folders, and internal websites, ensuring that the information is accurate, updated in a timely manner, and reflective of Raymond James’ branding;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring 

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills, including an advanced level understanding of Microsoft Excel and VBA;
  • Financial software including FactSet and Morningstar Direct with experience using them and their related excel plugins/formulas;
  • Strong understanding of financial terminology and the private client environment;
  • Strong understanding of product structures and investments covering multiple asset classes (equity, fixed income, mutual funds, ETFs, alternative funds, and structured notes);
  • Ability to create professional presentations/reports and adhere to corporate brand standards; and
  • Written and verbal communication in English. (Fluency in French is a definite asset).

Education/Previous Work Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary education and relevant industry (e.g. CSI, CFA, MBA enrolled) designations; and
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ of relevant experience in the investment industry (e.g., equity research, asset management, wealth management, investment banking, corporate finance).
