Overview

The Manager, Operations will have oversight for Lease Operations functions with a focus on Tax Servicing. This role facilitates and leads a team of sales tax, property tax, and income tax specialists across consumer and commercial loan, lease, and specialty portfolios. This role is responsible for lease payments (sales tax calculations, property tax calculations, etc.), performs monthly recording and reviewing of tax transactions, and serves as a liaison with the Client Services team for addressing client inquiries. The Manager, Operations is responsible for oversight and guidance for gathering, reviewing and inputting data into the lease and tax accounting and management software application, as well as extracting data to perform month-end journal entry processing, balance sheet reconciliations, correct payment application within the system, and other reviews of financial data. This role works closely with the Client Management, Financial Reporting, and Finance teams to setup and maintain processing large volumes of information in a short timeframe.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team that works on accounts with lease and tax components
  • Document, and then ensure adherence, to all processes and policies. 
  • Act as the tax leader for all new client onboardings providing recommendations, solutions and execution procedures
  • Perform regular audits to ensure accounts are properly booked into the system of record
  • Perform pre-close analysis and post-close reconciliation on the lease and tax portfolios
  • Communicate with business partners frequently and provide insight on accounting treatment and financial impact on leasing transactions
  • Review new or amended lease agreements in detail and validate all related data within the lease accounting systems
  • Maintain the integrity of data within the lease accounting systems
  • Assist on process transformation projects. Example: data retention/migration projects, system updates and UAT testing
  • Assist with portfolio conversions and onboarding of new clients
  • Ensure SOC compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation and providing recommendations as appropriate.
  • Work cross-functionally with other groups to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions
  • Drive process improvements and automation to improve efficiencies
  • Work closely with internal and cross functional teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting or related area, or equivalent work experience 
  • Lease Operations Experience 
  • Specialization on Lease accounting (lessee accounting)
  • Previous experience with tax and lease servicing platforms
  • Prior experience managing a team of hourly specialists and Exempt Leadership
  • Solid understanding and application of ASC 842 lease accounting standard
  • Sales and use and personal property tax understanding preferred
  • Previous accounting and reconciliation experience required
  • Experience with lease administration database systems and accounting systems preferred
  • Previous experience successfully handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to research issues in complex accounting structure to resolve problems; detail oriented, yet able to identify issues and grasp concepts at broader level
  • Strong project management skills and able to move toward successful completion of project goals
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel required
  • Maintain acceptable attendance standards.

Physical Requirements

The work is of an intellectual nature. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to stand and sit for prolonged periods. Specific vision abilities required include close and medium distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal sounds, distinguish sound as voice and communicate through human speech.
