Requirements
The Testing & Quality Assurance (TQA) section within the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry are seeking an experienced Test Automation lead / subject matter expert to support ongoing enhancement and maintenance of test automation capability.
To be successful in the role, you will:
Initial contract duration - 12 Months
Extension term - 12 months
Number of extensions - 2
Location of work - ACT, Offsite
Working arrangements - The section is located at Agriculture House in the Canberra CBD. Our standard expectation is for staff to attend the office three (3) working days each week. The section is supportive of flexible arrangements and consideration will be made for individual and collaboration needs.
Security clearance - Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1
Criteria
Essential Criteria
1. At least 6 years demonstrated experience working as an Automation Test Lead, with a focus on Tosca, CI/CD integration, SQL and related tools using best practice and design patterns in an Agile delivery space.25%
2. Demonstrated ability to grow domain knowledge and apply learnings when developing, executing and reporting on automated testing of UIs, APIs and Databases using Tosca and related tools.25%
3. Ability to work collaboratively, solve technical problems, implement innovative solutions and identify initiatives for continual uplift of automation.20%
4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral forms.10%
5. Demonstrable experience supporting junior team members, providing guidance, training, mentoring and championing of automation best practice.10%
6. Triscentis Tosca Certifications: - AS1, AS2, AE1 (mandatory); and - AE2 and Implementing Tosca APIs (ideal)10%

- Have at least 6 years of experience working as an Automation Test Lead
- Actively contribute to Test Automation framework, Best Practice and Guardrails and the continued automation of manual testing tasks.
- Apply sound technical understanding of automated test tools and related technologies such as Tricentis Tosca, Azure DevOps, Selenium, SQL, and Cucumber.
- Have completed Triscentis Tosca Certifications AS1, AS2, AE1, AE2 (ideal) and Implementing Tosca APIs (ideal)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to tailor communication to respective audiences.
- Have the ability to:
- collaborate effectively and contribute positively to the team.
- apply strong problem-solving abilities, capable of independently resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality.
- Maintaining, enhancing and supporting Tosca-based test automation framework and other tooling by:
- Providing oversight and support of the framework and projects within Tosca,
- Writing, executing Test suites and scripts, as well as reporting results;
- Manage test data and agents
- Lead and facilitate Tosca maintenance or uplift activities, such as patching and version upgrades;
- Act as the primary point of contact for teams for Test automation related queries or issues
- Ensure continuous integration of the Tosca framework with Azure DevOps CI/CD,
- Maintain and enhance Tosca documentation and support materials (i.e. how to use the tool, installation and upgrades);
- Contribute to:
- Continual improvement initiatives for automated testing practices, governance, best practice and guardrails;
- Demonstrations, mentoring and knowledge transfer to the Testing & Quality Assurance Team; and
- Engagement with various teams and Communities of Practices across the Department regarding Test Automation.
