Your role and responsibilities

The Project Manager leads cross‑functional teams to deliver technology solutions in line with agreed scope, cost, schedule, and contractual commitments. The role covers delivery of custom development, cloud modernization, cognitive/analytics solutions, or large, complex programs depending on project needs. Acting as the primary point of coordination between client stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors, the Project Manager ensures successful execution of the project lifecycle, effective communication, risk management, and alignment to business and contractual requirements. Responsibilities may include delivery leadership, team coordination, stakeholder management, and ownership of project outcomes depending on project scale and experience level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams in delivering solutions as defined in Statements of Work and client contracts.

  • Manage project scope, cost, schedule, risks, issues, deliverables, and resource plans across internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Apply project management methodologies such as Agile and traditional PM frameworks.

  • Direct modernization initiatives, including refactoring, coexistence architectures, containerisation, microservices, APIs, and database or language conversions.

  • Lead engagements involving cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, Google Cloud, or Red Hat OpenShift.

  • Oversee the delivery of maintenance and support activities for applications or platforms when required.

  • Coordinate cognitive and analytics solution delivery, including stakeholder analysis, communication planning, and facilitation of Design Thinking sessions (where applicable).

  • Support development of data quality rules, metadata processes, cognitive service integration, and automated reporting (where relevant).

  • Manage delivery for complex or large client projects and programs, ensuring alignment with client expectations, contractual obligations, and strategic outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with governance processes, quality standards, financial controls, and contractual milestones.

  • Support resource planning, team leadership, and coordination activities based on project needs.

  • Maintain strong client relationships and represent the project in governance forums and executive‑level discussions when required.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management

  • Strong understanding of SDLC and application delivery

  • Experience with Agile and traditional PM methodologies

  • Cloud delivery experience (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, GCP, Red Hat OpenShift)

  • Risk, issue, dependency, and change management

  • Vendor, subcontractor, and cross‑functional team coordination

  • Stakeholder engagement and communication planning

  • Contractual and financial management, including cost controls and deliverables tracking

  • Ability to manage complex or large‑scale projects and programs

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and facilitation skills

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
