Senior DevOps Engineer, Platforms bei Realtime Robotics
Realtime Robotics · Boston, Vereinigte Staaten Von Amerika · Hybrid
- Optionales Büro in Boston
Description
We're redefining how robots are deployed. Our platform enables users to simulate, test, and optimize entire robotic systems in parallel. By removing the barriers that have kept advanced robotics out of reach for all but the largest players, we're ushering in a new era of manufacturing—one where mass reshoring is not only viable, but inevitable.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering, the DevOps Engineer will operate and evolve the infrastructure supporting our engineering organization and cloud-based products. This role spans both AWS cloud systems and on-premise infrastructure in our Boston office, with a strong focus on CI systems, developer productivity, reliability, and security.
You will work closely with software engineers to ensure development, testing, and deployment systems are efficient, scalable, and secure. This is a hands-on role focused on improving engineering workflows rather than building product features, with significant interaction with C++-based build and packaging systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and improve hybrid infrastructure across AWS and on-prem environments
- Maintain and scale CI/CD systems (GitLab CI), including runner infrastructure
- Improve reliability and performance of build, test, and deployment pipelines
- Support and optimize build systems for multi-language environments, including C++
- Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, networking, storage, and build systems
- Manage virtualization environments and internal compute resources
- Develop automation and tooling (primarily Python) to improve engineering workflows
- Support containerized environments using Docker
- Collaborate with engineering teams to remove friction in development and release processes
- Implement and maintain secure infrastructure practices (secrets, access control, logging)
- Support SOC 2 / ISO 27001 compliance efforts
- Assist in managing open source software usage and licensing
- Evaluate and support adoption of developer productivity tools, including AI-assisted tooling
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or systems engineering
- Strong experience with Linux-based systems
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and services
- Experience with CI/CD systems (GitLab CI preferred)
- Experience with Docker and containerized workflows
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python or similar)
- Experience supporting C++ build and packaging environments within CI/CD systems (e.g., CMake-based builds, dependency management, and artifact generation)
- Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure or build system issues
- Ability to work collaboratively with software engineering teams
- Familiarity with secure infrastructure practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating hybrid environments (cloud + on-prem)
- Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox, VMware, etc.)
- Experience managing CI runners or large-scale build/test systems
- Experience with C++ package management tools (e.g., Conan, vcpkg)
- Familiarity with artifact/package repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Cloudsmith, Packagecloud) and tradeoffs between them
- Experience with system-level packaging (e.g., Debian/apt, RPM)
- Experience with advanced build systems (e.g., Bazel)
- Experience supporting multi-language development environments (C++, C#, JavaScript)
- Familiarity with open source software management and licensing
- Experience working in SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar environments
