Staff Frontend Engineer

Location: New York

Our client is a high-performance technology development firm responsible for building and operating the foundational infrastructure behind the world’s most active digital asset launchpads. The systems managed by this organization are characterized by low latency, high throughput, and constant high-concurrency load. This is a mission-critical environment where technical precision is paramount; the frontend systems must remain resilient and performant under the weight of hundreds of thousands of active users.

The organization is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to own the design and evolution of large-scale frontend architecture. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on building fast, reliable, and maintainable user-facing systems. The successful candidate will join an elite team of builders where the pace is intense, expectations are high, and the impact of every deployment is immediate.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Architecture: Architect and evolve large-scale frontend systems using React and Next.js, ensuring they remain performant and scalable for a massive global user base.
  • Performance & Reliability: Take full ownership of performance, reliability, and correctness across critical user flows, including rendering optimization, complex state management, and efficient data fetching.
  • Pattern Design: Design frontend abstractions and architectural patterns that scale effectively with increasing product complexity.
  • Boundary Definition: Collaborate closely with backend and Solana engineers to define clean, efficient client–server boundaries and data synchronization strategies.
  • End-to-End Leadership: Lead complex frontend initiatives from initial technical design through implementation, rollout, and post-deployment iteration.
  • Quality & Standards: Set and maintain a high bar for code quality, comprehensive testing, and operational readiness across the entire frontend codebase.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and unblock other frontend engineers through rigorous design reviews, pairing, and hands-on technical guidance.

Interview Process

  1. Recruiter / HR Call: Initial screening regarding professional background and cultural alignment.
  2. Technical Interview: A deep-dive assessment into frontend architecture, React internals, and performance optimization strategies.
  3. Final Interview: A comprehensive wrap-up focusing on strategic vision, leadership capabilities, and role expectations.

Requirements

  • Experience: Staff-level frontend engineering expertise with a deep track record of building production React applications at significant scale.
  • Proven Scale: Demonstrated experience owning frontend systems used by large, real-world user bases, navigating the challenges of high-traffic consumer products.
  • Technical Depth: A profound understanding of browser internals, rendering pipelines, performance optimization, and the modern frontend tooling ecosystem.
  • Tooling Mastery: Advanced proficiency with React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with the ability to work "close to the metal" when performance demands it.
  • Systemic Thinking: Comfortable designing systems that balance developer velocity with long-term maintainability and high-performance requirements.
  • Agency & Ownership: A high-agency professional capable of driving large-scale initiatives with minimal guidance and a pragmatic approach to real-world constraints.
