Description

The Field Quality Engineer will support the Field Quality Team. The Quality Engineer will develop, document, and implement troubleshooting and investigatory methods for Zoox vehicle components. This position will foster strong cross-functional partnerships to improve Zoox products and the customer experience. The Engineer will use their technical background to perform failure analysis on vehicles and at the bench, record their findings, and communicate critical information to the cross-functional team.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Develop and document troubleshooting test methods with cross-functional teams to root cause failed components
  • Coordinate with the BaseOps team on field service campaigns
  • Design review and feedback to respective design teams
  • Specify and source new equipment for failure analysis
  • Work with the Reliability Team to identify and communicate trends within Zoox
  • Create/update quality documentation
  • Perform RCAs, drive investigations and product/process improvements
  • Travel to service locations to review field failures (10-25% travel)

    • Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 4+ years experience in automotive, EV, or aerospace
  • Ability to read technical drawings, GD&T and navigate CAD models
  • Broad technical background with mechanical and electrical systems, experience with chassis, thermal or powertrain systems would be highly desired.
  • Strong failure analysis abilities and poke-yoke 
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate investigation findings and technical information

  • QMS, SAP, 3DX experience
  • SQL, Python
  • Experience building test equipment
