Sigma Defense is currently seeking a multi-faceted Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve the Collaboration at Sea (CAS) web-based software system. The flexibility to proactively gather and balance current user and sponsor needs as well as providing forward-thinking improvements to the CAS system will be a critical skill in this role. The ideal candidate's ability to ensure robust stability of the system while identifying, researching, and developing improvements is a key factor in successfully meeting our customer commitments.
The Senior Software Engineer will document and communicate project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while working with a team. The senior engineer will be an integral and important part of the team and the projects they will support. This includes both software development, software testing and integrating software with the production system to provide needed capabilities and features.
CAS is a system used to convey mission essential information to a large group of users with low bandwidth consumption across an array of non-classified and classified networks. CAS fulfils a requirement to file share, email, and chat with U.S. to U.S. and U.S. to coalition and allied maritime partners via ship to ship, ship to shore, shore to ship, and shore to shore. Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System-Maritime (CENTRIXS-M) and/or coalition Secret Releasable (SECREL) networks, enclaves and community of interest (COI) systems form the network backbone and global infrastructure for coalition and multinational Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) interoperability. It provides tactical and operational information sharing between U.S. to U.S and U.S. to coalition maritime partners.

Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- IAT Level II Certification is required.
- Proactive, independent, flexible, inquisitive, and willing to guide.
- Ability to learn legacy systems and apply proven design patterns to maintain the system while identifying areas for improvement or digital transformation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Candidate Differentiators:
- Experience with – AJAX, HTML, DHTML, XML, TeamStudio, and CIAO!
- Experience working with Java and JavaScript.
- Experience with a Lotus Domino (HCL Domino) environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field of study.
Personnel Clearance Level:
- Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher.
- Clearance may be sponsored for the right candidate.
Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):
- Research, design, and develop software or specialized utility programs.
- Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
- Update software or enhance existing software capabilities.
- Participate in Agile meetings such as Sprint Reviews, Sprint Planning, Design meeting, and Sprint Demonstration meetings.
- Update software or enhance existing software capabilities in their respective repositories utilizing standard source code and release management best practices.
- Work with software application testers to ensure code is thoroughly tested in the applicable testing environments before release to the production environments.
- Responsible for ensuring all work is tracked and approved in Jira software or other agreed upon issue tracking software.
- Use of software to conduct database design analysis, source code control, search and replace functionality, database comparison and merging, and to build a database management system.
Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 annually.
