The Work

Treasury Risk and Capital Oversight (TRCO) is a risk division at Equitable Bank that oversees the bank’s liquidity and funding risk, market risk and securitization risk at the consolidated bank level. The team’s other major mandate is to provide oversight to the bank’s capital management process, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and other enterprise programs, including enterprise-wide stress testing, enterprise recovery planning and the regulatory Macro Stress Testing program.

The Core Responsibilities!

  • Assisting the program lead to ensure that the Bank satisfies OSFI requirements for stress testing in general and the MST (Macro Stress Test), including ECL and RWA quantification, completion of MST schedules, readiness of models and tools, consensus on industry and economic outlooks, and ensuring adherence to OSFI’s instructions for the MST:  
  • Assisting the development of models (e.g., PPNR) connecting risk factors and stress scenarios. 
  • Ensure the readiness of MST consolidation tools. 
  • Provide analytical services to support the MST and stress testing. 

  • Providing inputs into the design of stress scenarios and forecasts for the Enterprise-Wide Stress Test (EWST) in support of the MST, ICAAP, Enterprise Recovery Plan, etc.:  
  • Assist in the development of stress scenarios for the EWST. 
  • Coordinate and support the development and quantification of results. 
  • Maintaining and improving the credit risk stress testing process. 
  • Developing and maintaining reporting tools for stress testing processes in support of TRCO’s mandate.
  • Assisting in preparing the ICAAP submission package to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). 
  • Assisting in implementing planned enhancements to the ICAAP, including incorporation of new methodologies/models and coverage of new risk types in the ICAAP target setting process. 
  • Assisting in completing a full refresh and ongoing updates of the Enterprise Recovery Plan, which includes updating existing sections, drafting reports, developing tools to analyze and recommend improvements for stress scenarios, stress test results, recovery actions and the overall process.
  • Updating committee reports on a timely basis as required. 
  • Let's Talk About You!

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics. 
  • A professional designation in Finance, Accounting or Risk management is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a Financial Institution with knowledge of credit risk stress testing is required. 
  • Strong technical skills with demonstrated hands-on experience in programing languages such as Python and SQL, along with proficiency in database management and data visualization tools such as Power BI to effectively analyze and present data insights.
  • Sufficient knowledge to champion AI applications in the team. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with a collaborative mindset and superb interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills. 
  • Familiarity with balance sheet management concepts, including Funds Transfer Pricing, Hedge Accounting, ALM and Liquidity.
