About the Opportunity
A well-established digital commerce and technology solutions company is seeking a Backend PHP Developer to support a long-term modernization initiative. This role focuses on transforming a legacy PHP application into a modern, cloud-native, microservices-based platform hosted on AWS. This position is fully onsite in Austin, TX and requires consistent in-office collaboration. Candidates must already reside in Texas and be able to commute daily.
What You’ll Be Doing
Modernize a legacy PHP monolith into domain-driven microservices
Design and build backend services using PHP (Symfony preferred)
Develop and maintain RESTful, API-first integrations
Deploy and support services using AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway)
Containerize applications using Docker and support orchestration
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with DevOps, Product, QA, and Analytics teams
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and code reviews
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of backend development experience with PHP
Experience with microservices architecture and API-driven systems
Strong AWS cloud experience
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
