- LEEA-accredited certification, such as “Lifting Equipment General”, with experience in initial and periodic inspection standards
- HND or equivalent in Engineering/STEM discipline, or relevant practical experience
- Strong ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Practical experience with Weapon System equipment, particularly Surface Support Equipment (SSE) used at Faslane and Coulport

About the Role
Salary: £25,000 – £30,500 (based on 22 hours per week)
Contract: 12 - month FTC
Hours: 22 hours per week (2.5 days, flexible Monday – Friday)
Location: Faslane, Helensburgh
We’re looking for a qualified LOLER Engineer to join our team at Faslane on a part-time, fixed-term basis. Working closely with the Lead LOLER Engineer and the Waterfront Engineering Department, you’ll play a key role in supporting Ministry of Defence and Royal Navy customers by ensuring the safe and compliant operation of weapon system lifting equipment.
This is a hands-on engineering role where your expertise will directly support operational readiness and safety across a high-security defence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work for the Waterfront Associate Manager (WAM), conduct tasks for the initial and ongoing compliance of Weapon System lifting equipment which requires Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) certification.
- Provide advice on equipment configuration and manufacture from a compliance aspect.
- Attend required facility training and Weapon System training as assigned and directed by a personal training profile.
- Assist sections with equipment upgrade implementation as required.
- Provide technical consultancy, assessment, advice, and support to line management, MOD, and other stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met.
- Responsibility for maintaining a working knowledge and understanding of approved Trident documentation, mandatory Health and Safety legislation, acceptance standards and directives to ensure compliance with the Trident Programme and company requirements.
- Deliver technical training, primarily on the maintenance of SSE.
