Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Associate Specialist in Business Analysis to support our trading, risk, and operational teams. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of front-office risk and trade processing within FX options or other derivatives. You will serve as a key link between business stakeholders and technical teams, analyzing requirements, identifying solutions, and ensuring efficient processes. Your insights will directly contribute to managing risk exposure, optimizing trade processing workflows, and ensuring regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of front-office risk management and trade processing in FX options or derivatives
Proficiency in business analysis tools and methodologies
Experience with Python programming (desirable) for data analysis or automation tasks
Familiarity with financial modeling and valuation systems related to FX options and derivatives
Use of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) at an advanced level for reporting and analysis
Knowledge of trade capture, confirmation, and risk systems used in trading environments
Preferred Skills:
Experience with automation scripting or data analysis in Python
Familiarity with risk management platforms and market data systems
Exposure to regulatory reporting tools and processes
Overall Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to gather, analyze, and document trade-processing and risk management requirements
Conduct detailed business analysis to identify process improvements and technical solutions for FX options and derivatives trading workflows
Assist in designing and testing enhancements to risk systems or trade processing platforms, ensuring alignment with industry and regulatory standards
Provide insights into system performance, risk exposure, and operational efficiencies
Support the implementation of automation initiatives in trade processing and data analysis using Python or other tools
Identify issues, troubleshoot root causes, and coordinate resolution efforts in live trading and risk environments
Prepare detailed documentation, including functional specifications, process maps, and testing plans
Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and technical teams to ensure timely project delivery and stakeholder satisfaction
Maintain awareness of industry trends, new risk management tools, and compliance requirements impacting FX and derivatives markets
Technical Skills (By Category)
Business Analysis & Functional Knowledge:
Required: Strong knowledge of front-office FX options and derivatives trade processing, risk management, and operational workflows
Preferred: Experience working with market data and pricing models in FX and other derivatives
Programming & Data Analysis:
Required: Python scripting skills for data analysis, automation, or scripting tasks (desirable but not mandatory)
Preferred: Knowledge of SQL or other data query languages for reporting and data extraction
Tools & Processes:
Required: Expertise in business analysis methodologies, requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder communication
Preferred: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes
Systems & Platforms:
Understanding of trade capture, confirmation, valuation, and risk systems used in financial institutions
Exposure to market data platforms and regulatory reporting tools
Experience Requirements
7+ years of experience in business analysis within the financial sector, particularly in FX trading, risk, or derivatives processing
Proven track record of supporting front-office functions for FX options or related derivatives
Experience working in high-pressure, dynamic trading environments with strict compliance and risk controls
Alternative experience pathways: candidates with extensive operational or risk management backgrounds combined with strong analytical and communication skills will also be considered
Day-to-Day Activities
Engage with traders, risk managers, and technical teams to capture and refine business requirements
Analyze existing trade processing workflows, identify bottlenecks or risks, and propose improvements
Develop functional specifications and communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Support testing, validation, and deployment of system enhancements
Troubleshoot live system issues, coordinate incident resolution, and implement corrective actions
Prepare reports on risk exposures, trade metrics, and process efficiencies
Participate in sprint planning, review, and other Agile ceremonies
Maintain documentation for processes, system configurations, and requirements
Stay informed of market developments affecting FX options, derivatives, and risk management practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field
Professionally recognized certifications such as CFA, FRM, or Business Analysis certification (preferred)
Extensive experience in front-office FX or derivatives risk management, trading operations, or related roles
