Description

Summary

The controller manages accounting records and is responsible for the production of financial reports while overseeing all employees involved in the accounting process, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll accounting oversite, inventory, compliance, month end and year end processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the timely, authorized, complete, accurate and correctly classified information in the general ledger that represents a summarization of all transactions related to the financial activity of the corporation.

  • Assures all information recorded is related to the corporations mission, function, and goals.
  • Lead the corporate finance function by developing coordinated processes and functions for the accounting department which focus on maintaining adequate positive cash flow, developing an awareness of cash management, and improving profitability.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely processing of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, periodic and annual audits, and annual budgets.
  • Assure all accounts are properly reconciled against detailed transactions.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and oversee inventory cost accounting.
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
  • Provide cash flow analysis and forecasts to management for use in determining capital funding and year-end bonuses.
  • Oversee the activities of the credit department to determine creditworthiness of customers and develop policies and procedures that assure adequate cash flow for the corporation.
  • Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
  • Work with sales personnel, customers, and outside sources to provide reasonable credit terms that reduce the risks associated with customer accounts receivable collections.
  • Communicate professionally and frequently regarding the status of projects; assist when needed or required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish policies and work instructions to maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the company's value.
  • Work with management to develop or improve periodic flash reporting and provide dashboard measurements as required. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounting assistant, ensuring the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable and payables aging components including billings, cash receipts application, journal entries, tax filings, quarterly and annual payroll closing and reporting, including federal and state reports.
  • Work with the outside accounting firm to assure all information has been provided for their compilation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the accounting department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Qualifications


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in financial management or accounting required, Five + (5) years experience in a manufacturing accounting manager role, CPA certification helpful but not necessary, JobBOSS Shop Management Solutions experience preferred but not necessary, all Microsoft Office products including Access and Excel. Familiarity with Paycom or other payroll processing software preferred but not necessary. Strong mathematical and analytical skills a must.
