Endpoint Engineering and Development is seeking a Systems Engineer to join us on a mission to elevate the experience of our systems and enrich the lives of the Stanford University community. In this position, you will:

  • Achieve outstanding results in support of our mission while modeling the team’s values.
  • Bring Jamf and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune/SCCM/MECM) to Stanford.
  • Partner with developers and engineers to define and execute strategy on complex projects from single tasks to sophisticated implementations.
  • Perform server migrations and cloud administration (GCP/AWS) in support of endpoint management operations.
  • Present to different audiences, from end-users to senior leadership, on the status of endpoint management projects.

Endpoint Engineering and Development (EED) provides a portfolio of products and services that solve problems and build experience. EED offers software development, systems engineering, and product management. EED is part of University Information Technology (UIT), a 700-person strong organization supporting 100+ services.

Core duties include:

  • Build, install, configure, analyze, tune, and troubleshoot the operating system to achieve optimum performance.
  • Resolve complex system problems and provide consultation or training.
  • Configure and assist in the design of systems and network security.
  • Manage hardware, software, and utilities for installation, modification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrade operating systems and workstation environments.
  • Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies and integrate systems into the computing environment.
  • Document systems infrastructure for users, support and consulting personnel, and developers.
  • Train personnel who provide support and consulting services to users.
  • Act as liaison with various departments across campus.
  • Facilitate vendor relationships.
  • Management of Apple Developer Console and Google Play Console.

 

Minimum requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with implementation, configuration, support, design, and planning of Jamf and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune/SCCM/MECM) rollouts to an enterprise organization.
  • Knowledge of macOS and Windows environments, including hardware and software, at an advanced level.
  • Proficient in one or more modern, general-purpose scripting languages (ex: PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Experience with basic troubleshooting and network concepts with a fundamental understanding of network environments.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory.
  • Mid to advanced knowledge of security concepts and best practices.
  • Experience using ticketing systems such as JIRA and ServiceNow to provide excellent customer support.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to train others in applications and system fundamentals.
  • Experience with middleware and infrastructure.
  • Experience with build automation, continuous integration, or continuous deployment tools is a bonus.

 

The expected pay range for this position is $127,716 to $147,437 per annum.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
