Job Description
Experience
- 3 years of experience in an operating room
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree in a healthcare field or completion of advanced healthcare program
- Experience and training in medical equipment repair
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in various personal computer hardware/software applications and equipment database programs
- Demonstrates safe operation and troubleshooting for advanced surgical services medical equipment
- knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, medical terminology
- Excellent communication skills, motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Job Responsibilities
- Operates and supports advanced modality equipment during specialist surgical cases (navigation, laser, Rosa, Robot,iMRI, ect.)
- Provides real-time feedback to surgeon and surgical team regarding safety and plan of care as related to equipment use.
- Participates in training for all new specialty cases.
- 4emonstrates knowledge of surgical environment and proper use of equipment after appropriate training.
- Participates in internal and external vendor competencies for advanced modalities as required.
- Reviews OR schedule proactively for new service line cases and provides follow up to vendors to obtain support, equipment, supplies, etc.
- Reviews complex cases with surgeon in advance to ensure plan of care is followed.
- Provides education to surgeons related to equipment operation.
- Ensures that all case pre-planning is completed in a timely manner.
- Works closely with Sterile Processing to ensure required instrumentation is available for case.
- Troubleshoots failed equipment during critical time in Operating Room.
- Provides education to staff as needed to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
- Works closely with leadership team to inventory surgical specialty equipment.
- Participates in maintaining and monitoring work environment to ensure continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
- Participates in capital budget process as needed.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair with Clinical Engineering and vendor as required.
- Flexes schedule and/or ensures vendor coverage available to support specialty equipment for late rooms and planned absences.
