Inside the Role
The Project Controlling Manager plays a key leadership role within the Finance and Controlling organization, overseeing financial validation, calculation and cost optimization for new product projects. The team provides guidance and oversight to all New Product Project financials as well as overall financial guidance to the ATG group (Autonomous). This position requires a high level of cross-functional interaction with key business partners in Engineering, Product Strategy, Purchasing, Strategic Pricing, Detroit Diesel and the ATG. Key current projects this teams supports are Blue Thunder – M2 New Architecture (47F), X-series Vocational on CEEAAce Architecture (47V), 2027 EPA and CARB engine integration projects (47A, 46C), AP4 and other projects which fit into our Platform Roadmap.We are a diverse team of individuals with experience from multiple areas within the organization and together we drive great business decisions.

What You Drive at DTNA
Lead team of Project Controllers to ensure Product Projects have accurate and timely project financials from target setting to transition to series for budget, cost, price and volumes.
Provide transparency on all key financial KPI's on a regular basis to steer projects and transparency necessary for decision-making.
Work with ATG leadership team to support all financial needs for projects and business case of autonomous driving
Lead Controllers to develop targets for Product Projects for all Financial KPI's.
Team expected to understand project requirements and utilize resources to develop targets. Manager will actively engage with business partners to jointly set targets which could include (but not limited to) Cost Engineering for calculating estimate and reference calcs for costing, Product Strategy to understand market, volume opportunities and products product offerings, Strategic Pricing to understand customer value to support pricing strategy, Engineering to understand technical changes of parts/product, Warranty expectations based on design / project targets, and Manufacturing foot print impacts to support budget requirements.
Work with Project Team leads to actively monitor, control, and maintain primary Financial KPI's. Develop, coordinate and monitor projects targets for expense budgets, capital budgets, and general projects performance. Track and report actual deviations from project plan.
Coordinate corrective activities with Project Managers and team leads, as required, to ensure expected and target costs and profits are aligned and achieved.
Recommend and maintain financial procedures, controls and reporting mechanics to aid management decision-making and maximize project’s financial and cost performance.
Ensure that we comply with Daimler policies for New Product Projects and operating within Daimler's Integrity Code and ICS.
Provide visibility of spending and risk assessment on Financial KPI's to Project Manager as well as recommendations to minimize risk to DTNA.
Provide reporting, analysis and reconciliation as assigned.
Provide monthly status update of projects financials and overall project status.
Support the preparation of presentations of strategic projects to Product Committee(s) PSC, PC and BOM.
Knowledge You Should Bring
Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance or related field required
At least 6 years experience in related field required
At least 2 years of group leader, supervisory, or project lead experience required
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Prior financial analysis experience required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
Masters degree in Business, Finance or related field preferred
Previous Freightliner or large manufacturing company experience preferred
Familiarity with SAP and IMACS preferred
