TOOL MANAGER

O’Connell Electric Company is seeking a Tool Manager to support our Lake Mainer project located in Somerset, NY. This is a full-time on-site position with fluctuating working hours; some evening and weekend work will be required.

This role will oversee the day-to-day operations, hand tool inventory, and ordering process. This role is critical to ensure efficient delivery and pickup of materials, equipment, and tools across the job site. The ideal candidate will be skilled in planning, scheduling, and coordinating deliveries while maintaining accurate tooling inventory and supporting project needs. 

This position does require a valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages all hand tool requests.
  • Maintains and manages tooling inventory, ensuring availability and readiness.
  • Track tool usage and returns to prevent loss and ensure accountability.
  • Collaborate with vendors for tool procurement and delivery timelines.
  • Meet with vendors and manufacturers on new tooling options.
  • Review current pulling, threading, and bending equipment as typically used by the Inside Wireman.
  • Make replacement recommendations based on age, physical condition, usage, and repair cost.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Foreman to standardize the distribution and use of consumables.
  • Build credibility and trust with contacts at project site, ensuring that people and projects have what they need when they need it.

Required Competencies/Skills:

  • Familiarity with hand tools, tooling inventory systems, and procurement processes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with ticketing or scheduling platforms (ToolWatch, OneDesk).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with various departments/teams.
  • Must demonstrate innovative thinking.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize the work to meet tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma and 5-7 years of experience in construction or industrial environments.
  • Must have knowledge of construction materials and tools.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation:

The minimum and maximum hourly rate of pay that O’Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $34.00 to $44.00. It is important to O’Connell Electric that potential candidates for this position understand that compensation depends on numerous factors including the geographic location where the role will be performed, skills required, experience, complexity, travel, and market rate.
