The CityTeam @ Work Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Learning and Career Center at CityTeam Chester. The CityTeam @ Work Specialist must have high expectations and believe all residents can learn. The CityTeam @ Work

Specialist is responsible for managing the classroom environment, resident behavior, and processes. Most importantly, the CityTeam @ Work Specialist will stay on top of resident progress and motivate residents as they work through their Education and Career Development Plans and Quality of Life Goals. The CityTeam @ Work Specialist will need to be adept at communicating with people from a variety of backgrounds and be comfortable working with those who are impoverished, struggling with substance abuse, and re-entry. No two days are ever the same, so we are looking for someone who can pivot quickly and handle conflict in a Christ-like manner. We are expanding our programs, so our ideal candidate will take initiative, be flexible in the unknown, and do whatever it takes to help the team. You will work in cooperation with the entire Chester team to support the residents’ overall program goals. The CityTeam @ Work Specialist will report directly to the Director of Men’s Programs in Chester and work collaboratively with the Director of CityTeam @ Work from our headquarters in San Jose, CA. The CityTeam @ Work Specialist is a part-time non-exempt position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Oversee Learning & Career Center processes, workflows, case management, training, and tutoring of residents, including goal setting, transitional life skills, action items, and specific tasks related to creating the resident’s Education & Career

Development Plan (ECDP and Resident Wellness Profile. Advise residents on their quality of life domains as they relate to their life goals and continuing care plan e.g. medical needs, benefits, education and career goals, housing.

  1. Model and hold residents accountable for appropriate workshop behavior, including arriving on time, coming prepared, participating in workshop discussions, staying on task, and respecting and supporting others’ learning.
  2. Prepare residents to take the high school equivalency exam and assist students with college readiness, applications, financial aid, etc.
  3. Ensure all residents understand the wide variety of vocational skills training and resources available through CityTeam @ Work.
  4. Assist residents in attaining proficiency and professionalism in job search strategies, including addressing and overcoming employment barriers, interview techniques, personal branding, and written materials including resumes, applications, and cover letters.
  5. Find and take residents to appropriate career fairs and vocational orientations, connect them with potential employers, and provide referrals, support, and job placement services.
  6. Research and build mutually beneficial partnerships with businesses and union trades. Network with outside agencies, colleges, and organizations to maximize available resources.
  7. Perform administrative tasks, including the coordination and communication of residents’ appointments, tracking SEPTA cards, and sharing calendars with the appropriate team members.
  8. Serve as the first point of contact for weekend emergencies on a rotating basis with the rest of the team (once a month).
  9. Collaborate with the entire CityTeam Chester team to coordinate appropriate services and transfer flow for all of the residents in our programs.
  10. Efficiently use Google Drive and other Google G-Suite apps for daily use and to create, track, and report data.
  11. Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and intelligently delegate.
  12. Advocate on behalf of CityTeam to your circles of influence.
  13. Special projects and additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Men’s Programs in CityTeam Chester.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:


  • Career Development, Career Coaching, Case Management or Career Counseling experience
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • Minimum 3-years of professional work experience
  • Proficiency conducting online research, preparing presentations, and speaking to large or small groups
  • Computer literate and proficient with all aspects of Google G-Suite apps and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with curriculum development and the ability to maximize resources by individualizing content for each resident’s needs
  • Outstanding command of the English language, especially writing professional documents and business correspondence
  • Valid PA Driver’s License with a clean record

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree
  • Familiarity with college admission processes, applications, and financial aid
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Teaching experience
  • Bilingual

  • Work hours are typically Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends

  • Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community
  • with other Christ-followers
  • Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam Statement of Faith
  • Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ
