Overview:

Sammons Wealth Management is a startup business unit within a large, established financial services company. This intern position will require use of strong quantitative and communication skills to support the growth of the Wealth Management division of Sammons Financial Group Companies through strategic projects including mergers and acquisitions, business partnerships, and other growth initiatives. The role will also support growth initiatives for the companies in the current wealth management portfolio, including a retail asset management company and a retail registered investment advisor firm providing broad family office advisory services to high-net worth clients. This position will require the ability to collaborate effectively with other internal teams, including Corporate Development, Accounting, Investments, and Legal. This role will receive direct exposure to several of the Company's senior leaders responsible for corporate strategy and capital deployment. This role will be subject to an SEC compliance program, which can include monitoring personal securities transactions, restrictions on outside business activities, as well other oversight and restrictions. 

Responsibilities:• Participate in transaction pipeline discussions with our Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team
• Provide administration support for our virtual data room (VDR) in support of M&A activity
• Develop presentations and materials for key executive updates
• Assist in financial modeling and analysis for potential transaction opportunities
• Analyze existing reporting and data-sharing processes and provide recommendations to strengthen them
• Assist in operational processes, reporting, and functions related to Beacon Capital Management and other wealth management businesses as they are acquired
• Assist in the evaluation of strategic opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships. Duties will be broad, and may include analysis of financial information, developing transaction economic models, and participating in due diligence processes
• Develop or enhance processes used to manage, analyze, and report data
• Research and prepare comparative analysis across peers and the industry
• Work closely with business partners and stakeholders outside of the department to achieve initiatives
• Support special projects, new strategies, and other needs as assigned

  • Active progress (at least 4 semesters completed) towards a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences or related field Preferred
  • Related coursework or analytical experience Preferred
  • Prior internship experience Preferred
  • Possess positive attitude and inquisitive nature towards learning new or complex topics
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to take data from several sources and organize, validate and analyze the data
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment within and outside of Sammons Financial Group and its Wealth Management team and the ability to work in a positive and professional fashion toward common organization goals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of self-initiative, attention to detail, confidence; self-starter
  • Demonstrated adherence to teamwork and collaboration
  • Strong PC proficiency with excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively with some level of autonomy and self-direction
