- Lead research initiatives: Validate product concepts and identify evolving customer and end-user needs in the retail space.
- Execute qualitative research: Design, conduct and report out on in-depth interviews, store walk-throughs, focus groups, ethnographic studies, etc.
- Manage quantitative studies: Gather and analyze data from customer surveys, usage analyses, market sizing, segmentation studies, conjoint analyses, etc.
- Provide market and competitive intelligence: Analyze and synthesize primary and secondary market data to identify industry trends, competitive positioning, and innovation opportunities.
- Uncover unmet needs: Work closely with retail and strategic partnership customers and internal stakeholders to uncover insights that inform product development and customer strategy.
- Generate actionable insights: Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights and strategic guidance for product, R&D, sales, marketing, and executive teams.
- Socialize key learnings: Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, and dashboards.
- Track retail trends: Monitor competitive and technological trends across the retail landscape.
- Manage external relationships: Coordinate with research vendors, consultants, brand and retailer representatives as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Market Research, Economics, Statistics, Psychology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in insights, market research, or strategy roles, preferably within the retail or B2B sectors.
- Demonstrated experience with both qualitative (e.g., interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (e.g., surveys, segmentation) research methods.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with tools such as Excel, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Ability to use AI tools to streamline qualitative and quantitative research—such as automating survey analysis, clustering consumer segments, and extracting insights from open-ended responses using NLP.
- Skill in leveraging AI models to forecast consumer behavior, simulate market scenarios, and generate data-driven recommendations that guide product and marketing strategy
- Proven ability to translate customer needs and market data into actionable recommendations.
- Experience working in or with global retailers or vendors serving the retail industry.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across Product, R&D, Sales, and Marketing.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with goods not for resale (GNFR) categories preferred.
- Experience working with software or digital product teams is a plus.
- Ability to travel upward of 50%, including international travel.
