A Manufacturing Etch Process Engineer with ON Semiconductor in Nampa supports the manufacture of Image Sensor product lines for 200mm and 300mm. The primary responsibility of the Etch Process Engineer is to own the color filter array (CFA) CVD, Dry Etch, and Fusion Dry Strip manufacturing process. The Etch Process Engineer will actively support the shift engineering team with any issues that occur, and work closely with the equipment engineer to help prevent downtime. The Etch Process Engineer will be responsible for setting up new CVD and Etch processes for new part types, SPC, and own disposition procedures for how the shift teams react to SPC violations. The Etch Process Engineer will work with the RnD and NPI teams to development new CVD and Etch processes for new and existing technology. This position will be a first shift position that will report to the Process Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Support the 24hr shift CFA Engineering team with issues that arise. Off hour support may be needed.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the CVD, Dry Etch, and Dry Strip processes to be able to diagnose issues that occur.
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis skills to implement process control charts, develop reactions to out of control/specification (OOC/OOS) conditions, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop DOE’s to run, implement solutions, and make recommendations for new process conversions and improvements.
- Develop engineering skills to evaluate process results using statistical methods, implement solutions, and help recommend/drive yield improvement.
- Maintaining, characterizing, and improving process performance for efficient image CFA development work.
- Working with various teams on process, tool, and materials development.
- Use 8D or other problem solving techniques to overcome process challenges.
- Identify CVD/Etch issues and work with the appropriate cross-functional teams to develop solutions.
- Provide written and verbal communication to various teams for tool issues, process issues, and project status.
- Create Work Instructions, BKM’s, and any associated training certifications.
- Setup CVD and Etch processes for all new RnD and NPI parts.
- Develop new processes with RnD team that can be rolled out to production.
- Document experiments in a clear and concise manner to help train and educate fellow team members
Qualifications
- Minimum BS degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Chemistry with 2+ years of experience
- Familiarity with semiconductor fab processes (Dry Etch, CVD, PVD, Litho) is a plus
- Understanding of statistical process control
- Excellent data summary and analytical skills
- Experience in definition, implementation and analysis of Design of Experiment (DOE)
- Team player with ability to effectively work in cross functional team environment
- Strong approach for troubleshooting
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Innovative and self-motivated attitude
- Works well both independently and with teams
- Ability to follow written or verbal work instructions
- Ability to perform duties in a clean room environment
