The Residential Clinician is responsible for establishing and implementing quality clinical services for 5-8 clients with special mental health needs. Residential Clinicians provide individual, group, and family therapy as well as rehabilitative services and case management in

the residential setting.  Additionally, the Clinician is responsible for completing all documentation and written reporting required by the Agency.

 

Qualifications


Job Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school, as defined by the Department of Education, in Social Work or Social Welfare, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, Child Psychology, Child Development, Counseling Psychology or Social Psychology, which would enable the degree holder to sit for the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) exam or the Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) exam
  • Completion of at least three semester units or 100 days of field practice or experience in a public or private social service agency at the Master’s Degree level
  • At least nine semester units of coursework related to children and families, or 18 months experience in working with children and families
  • At least three semester units in working with minority populations (six months of experience in working with minority population, or six months in-service training in working with minority populations within the first year of employment as a condition of employment)
  • At least three semester units in child welfare, or two years’ experience in a public or private child welfare social services setting
  • Communication/Language: Must demonstrate skills in communicating and positively relating to students, fellow employees, interns, contractors, and business contacts. Must possess advanced ability to read, write and understand English equivalent to a college level. 
  • Computer Skills: Must have strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook. Specific skills in software systems as required by position, such as Clinician’s Gateway and KaleidaCare
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the cultures represented in San Joaquin County
  • Reliable transportation, valid California Driver License, proof of valid auto insurance, a DMV driving record printout with no more than two (2) minor violations, and use own car for travel
  • Fingerprint clearance required
  • Must pass a physical examination to demonstrate physical, mental and occupational competence to perform assigned tasks under guidance, supervision and direction of the supervisory staff
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be a person who exercises good judgment and is emotionally mature, patient, flexible and calm with good communication skills

 

Essential Functions:

  • Follow the Trauma Informed Care philosophy when supporting and addressing the needs of the clients and families served by CHS
  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments on assigned caseload. Develops treatment plans and goals based on assessed areas of needs and strengths identified in the assessment. Monitors and evaluates client's progress on identified goals in the treatment plan. Develops and implement client Transition Plans. 
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner for assigned clients and maintains treatment records as stipulated in county contracts or other agencies responsible for program oversight.
  • Acts as the liaison between the STRTP and individuals such as Parents/Caregivers, Case Managers, County Social Workers, Teachers/Education Providers, and Probation Officers. The Clinician will work alongside care providers in the implementation and oversight of treatment plans. Maintain contact with care providers and schedule, facilitate, and attend Child and Family Team Meetings.  
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy services based upon the needs of the assigned clients
  • Works collaboratively with CHS residential staff to provide clinical direction and leadership for the therapeutic milieu. Assists cottage staff in student behavior management, physical restraint to protect students, and other crisis interventions. Provide periodic treatment home crisis management as assigned and as needed for stability of the individual clients and program.
  • Provide training on clinical skills to staff 
  • Create and provide any required treatment/clinical reports
  • Meet the Agency and state standards regarding attendance at staff training
  • The Residential Clinician position is an exempt position and is subject to extra hours of work as needed and/or assigned, but will not work more than 54 hours (CCW and SW hours) per calendar week unless essential for the safety and supervision of students
  • Restrain students physically when necessary as designated by State Licensing and Agency Regulations 
  • Attend staff and other meetings as required
  • Must have an attitude of friendliness and be able to communicate with all levels within Children’s Home of Stockton
  • Must be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality
