Purpose
The Voice Engineer oversees the maintenance and management of our Five9 cloud-based phone system and related voice infrastructure. This role is responsible for supporting our enterprise telephony architecture, managing SLAs for IP telephony applications, and ensuring seamless integration with our networking environment. The position also troubleshoots LAN and WAN hardware systems as they relate to remote IP phones, softphones, SIP trunks, and supports cloud-based faxing and mobile device management.
Responsibilities
- Meets with IT leaders to determine the company’s Five9 management and support needs.
- Analyzes existing Five9 and VoIP networks and computer systems, providing recommendations for optimization.
- Develops architecture plans for voice and data services, with a focus on Five9 solutions.
- Manages and maintains hosted cloud appliances associated with Five9 and VoIP.
- Designs and implements Five9 and general VoIP systems.
- Maintains and troubleshoots SIP trunking connections.
- Manages and maintains VoIP client software, including softphone installations on laptops, PCs, and mobile devices.
- Troubleshoots Five9 and VoIP network issues.
- Adds network users and manage company permissions as they relate to Five9 and VoIP.
- Optimizes network installations for Five9 and VoIP applications and services.
- Trains staff on network and system protocols as they relate to Five9 and VoIP architecture.
- Administers and troubleshoots faxing tools and cloud-based faxing platform.
- Selects and manages MDM solutions; provision, deploy, and integrate cellular devices into the network.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a similar field. In lieu of a four-year degree, 5-10 years of industry experience would be acceptable.
- Experience on Mitel specific content specifically MiVB versions 7-9, MiVB MiVoice Border Gateways in both stand alone and server gateway mode and MiCollab server running version 8 or higher.
- Contact Center Management experience with Mitels MiCC version 9.1 or higher.
- Call Recording experience with ASC Mitel Interaction Recording and MiVCR Oaisys version 6.5 or higher.
- SIP trunking configuration and troubleshooting experience.
- Previous experience working as a VoIP network engineer, with in-depth knowledge of VoIP systems and IP Protocols.
- Working knowledge of VMWare and virtual systems including hosts, memory, processors, and peripherals.
- Detailed knowledge of network security systems and software.
- Familiarity with WAN and LAN systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and project management skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience with faxing tools, technologies, and related troubleshooting.
- MDM and mobile device management and deployment skills.
- Familiarity with SQL server and SQL management studio.
Work Environment
This job operates in a home office and professional office environment. When in-office this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and communications via MS Teams.
