Reporting to the Vice President of Health Strategies, the Association Director of Wellness Programs is responsible for the comprehensive design, implementation, scheduling, promotion, marketing, sales, evaluation, and facilitation of wellness programs for members and the broader community throughout the region. This role requires expertise in program management, supervision, stakeholder engagement, and fiscal management. The Director will work to strengthen the community and promote positive changes in health and wellness by meeting key performance goals and reporting on program impact.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Design, deliver, and scale wellness programs association-wide, including personal training, small group training (TRX, Myzone classes, etc.), specialty wellness programming, and wellness incentive initiatives to increase program revenue and member engagement.
  • Support data entry, program delivery, and development of implementation plans to scale wellness programs and services across all branches.
  • Bridge gaps in branch Health & Wellness small group programming by establishing consistency in program design and implementation.
  • Utilize CHARGE as part of HUSK to create innovative programming around nutrition and education for branches.
  • Assist in wellness branch development related to Quality Check documentation; work with Health & Wellness Directors to prepare and develop skills and program areas to ensure positive Quality Check outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of Membership to develop and implement the Corporate Wellness model, focusing on employee wellness programming and initiatives that align with the Corporate Membership Model.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations to collaborate on special wellness events.
  • Work with community partners to secure financial support for community and branch special events.
  • Lead and manage wellness technology platforms (Upace, Y360, etc.).
  • Drive innovation in wellness technology and create new association-wide wellness events within branches and throughout the community.
  • Organize community engagement events such as women's/men's wellness weekends, CEU/CE events, and other healthy living initiatives that create additional revenue streams for the department and organization.
  • Promote greater participation in wellness groups (small groups, large groups, and special-interest groups), programs/services (personal training, group exercise, etc.), and promotions to welcome new members and deepen engagement in the Y experience.
  • Compile program statistics and provide data and reports as required for assigned wellness programs.
  • Track and report on program impact to support organizational goals and fiscal stability.
  • Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, members, and local community organizations.
  • Considerable travel throughout the YMCA of Greater Brandywine service area is required. Out-of-state travel for conferences represents less than 10% of overnight travel.

Qualifications


What You'll Need

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience supporting and guiding teams to achieve performance goals across multiple sites.
  • At least 5 years of experience with YMCA Health and Wellness programs strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with YMCA Evidence-Based Health Interventions (EBHIs) preferred.
  • Proven track record of wellness program and membership growth in a related industry.
  • Demonstrated work experience with both child and adult populations in diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Budgeting experience required.
  • Possess interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of core principles and best practices within healthy living programming and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect meaningful data, draw solid conclusions, and compile written reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and manage organizational strategies to full execution with proven ability to resolve ambiguous problems and improvise solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to form appropriate assessment-based relationships and exemplify excellent leadership qualities in managing associates tactfully.
  • Ability to relate well in multicultural environments and maintain confidentiality throughout daily operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines, use time effectively, multitask efficiently, and focus on details.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • HIPAA Compliance certification required.
  • Ability to travel throughout the YMCA of Greater Brandywine service area required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed (position is hybrid).

 

Working Conditions

 

Typically, the worker is in an indoor environment, protected from weather conditions but subject to some temperature fluctuations. Assigned projects and events may occur outside throughout the year and will be subject to various weather conditions as needed. Demands include (but are not limited to): Visual acuity, talking, hearing, lifting (up to 40lbs. independently, more than 50lbs. with assistance), walking, stooping, rising, kneeling, crouching, sitting or standing (for sustained periods of time), reaching, pushing, pulling, balancing, climbing, feeling, grasping and other repetitive motions of the hands, fingers and wrists.
