The role of the Compliance Department Intern position is to prepare candidates for future work, educational, and citizenship responsibilities through education and experience. This placement opportunity is in the Compliance Department at the Main Branch in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The  Compliance Intern will gain real world experience and knowledge of financial compliance by working in an active financial compliance environment.


Start Date/Duration:
This internship is part-time (approximately 37.5 hours per week) and temporary (10 weeks). The program begins on May 26, 2026 and runs through July 31, 2026. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00.


 The role of the Compliance Intern is to assist the department in ensuring Alabama Credit Union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act. The Compliance Intern will assist in this matter in several ways, including; Gain knowledge on governmental requirements for Financial Institutions with; investigating suspicious activity through various reports to prevent Fraud, Money Laundering & terrorist financing; auditing new ACU accounts to ensure BSA Compliance; Filing CTRs and other reports in timely manners and more.  

  • The Compliance Intern will assist with a large project for ACU's record retention program. This project will revolve around organizing our physical documents and files to determine which documents are needed to be kept on file or destroyed.
  • It is preferred that the Compliance Intern candidates have successfully completed coursework in business, accounting, law enforcement or a related field; experience with Windows and Macintosh operating systems; and the ability to exercise initiative, good judgment and make sound decisions. A high degree of confidentiality is required.

• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based applications
