Job Summary

 

Starting pay: $65,000. Compensation may be adjusted for exceptional experience or qualifications.

 

The Adaptive Solutions Technician is a skilled tradesperson responsible for completing a variety of accessibility-focused home improvement projects. This role involves hands-on work modifying residential spaces to enhance safety, mobility, and independence for homeowners. Typical projects include installation of roll-in showers, installation of overhead track-mounted lift systems, vertical platform lifts, indoor and outdoor ramps, handrails, grab bars, and other mobility-enhancing equipment and home modifications. A successful Adaptive Solutions Technician will have a strong background in construction or carpentry, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused work in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the installation of overhead track-mounted lift systems, vertical platform lifts, ramps (indoor and outdoor), handrails, grab bars, and other mobility equipment and home modifications to improve accessibility within the home.
  • Identify and resolve technical or installation-related issues that may arise on-site.
  • Carry out demolition work, including removal of existing structures or elements to prepare the site for modifications. Build and modify structures as needed to accommodate accessibility features, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Adhere to detailed project plans, blueprints, and manufacturer installation instructions to ensure accurate and safe installations.
  • Test installed equipment for proper functionality and performance, ensuring all systems are fully operational and meet safety standards.
  • Install electrical wiring or power sources as needed for equipment, ensuring all electrical connections comply with safety codes and manufacturer requirements.
  • Demonstrate all safety guidelines and industry standards during installations to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs, answer questions, and ensure satisfaction with modifications.
  • Collaborate with Adaptive Solutions Project Manager to stay on schedule, address project-specific needs, and ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and in safe working conditions.
  • Complete daily reports of work performed, including any challenges or adjustments needed during the project, and properly code time spent on each project.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Standard - Demands of the Job

  • Able to perform functions described in job responsibilities.
  • Able to lift 75 pounds and assist with lifting, transferring, or moving equipment up to 200 pounds with the assistance of equipment. This includes loading and unloading from average vehicles and vans.
  • Able to drive company maintenance vehicles independently. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to operate email, use timeclock program and respond to work orders. Able operate general office equipment and a computer including typing, learning new software applications and programs as related to performing job functions.
  • Able to attend work as required by position assignment including working a flexible schedule to support team as needed.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to effectively manage competing priorities.

 

Job Requirements/Desired Education and/or Experience

  • HS Diploma/equivalent.
  • 6+ years of experience in carpentry, electrical, painting, or other maintenance related field required.
  • Carpentry, HVAC, plumbing or other related certifications preferred.
  • Graduation from a trade school or college is preferred.
  • Basic skills using Microsoft Office products – with an emphasis on email.
  • Valid Class E driver’s license or equivalent or are willing and able to get a Class E license within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Acceptable driving record and valid vehicle insurance.
  • The training required must be completed as defined.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
