Position Overview
At Synoptek, every role is an opportunity to make an impact. The Intern – Procurement Specialist will support the Procurement and Asset Management team in ensuring timely purchasing, accurate asset tracking, and smooth internal processes. This internship provides hands-on exposure to procurement operations, vendor management, and IT asset tracking in a fast-growing Managed Services Provider environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Review planned orders, create requisitions for purchased items, and manage the approval process under guidance.
· Transmit and prioritize approved purchase orders and supporting documents to suppliers.
· Track orders, confirm lead times, delivery dates, and costs, and prepare basic status reports for internal teams.
· Assist finance and logistics staff in resolving reception and invoice discrepancies.
· Support price negotiations, purchase order creation, order tracking, and price dispute resolution.
· Build strong relationships with software publisher partners and collaborate with internal teams.
· Assist Sales and Client Advisory in identifying cost-effective sourcing solutions.
· Support the development and implementation of standardized procurement tools, practices, and procedures.
· Help maintain procurement policies and documentation under supervision to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley.
· Perform assigned tasks requiring independent judgment where appropriate, under the guidance of supervisors.

Requirements
· Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
· Basic understanding of procurement processes, IT hardware, and software concepts.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
· Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
· Willingness to learn asset management and procurement systems.
Learning Opportunities
· Hands-on experience in procurement, IT asset tracking, and software management.
· Exposure to vendor coordination, financial reconciliation, and operational processes.
· Development of problem-solving, reporting, and analytical skills within a collaborative team environment.
· Understanding procurement and IT asset lifecycle processes in a Managed Services Provider environment.
