Job Description:

Job Summary

The HR Business Partner executes the HR strategy, tailoring solutions to Divisional / MU needs, delivering mission partner solutions and programs at the MU-level and support performance management and mission partner cycles. They also support leaders with specialized HR advice and collaborate with the Service Centre on escalated inquiries and transactions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with senior management to implement and improve HR strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and clear communication to leaders.
  • Provides feedback on HR programs and assists in defining key metrics to evaluate HR strategy effectiveness.
  • Supports creation, review, and publishing of job descriptions in Workday, using templates and collaborating with leaders for evaluations.
  • Assists in performance cycle implementation, communicates timelines, analyzes effectiveness, and supports performance improvement planning.
  • Help managers understand the connection between employee performance and compensation decisions.
  • Responds to issues, interprets collective agreements, supports grievance resolution, and participates in mediation/arbitration processes.
  • Supports investigation and resolution of employee misconduct and non-compliance, including corrective action planning and documentation.
  • Assists in HR investigations, gathers evidence, collaborates with stakeholders, and manages case documentation and resolution processes.
  • Reviews and recommends onboarding/training programs, coordinates delivery, and evaluates effectiveness through feedback analysis.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with leaders, CoEs, and union partners to ensure HR practices are consistent, compliant, and strategically effective.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Completion of a university degree in social sciences, human resources, or related field
  • Completion or working towards completion of valid HR designation (i.e., CPHR)
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in a human resources generalist role.
  • Well-versed in the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, OHSA, WSIA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Experienced with human resources systems, particularly Workday.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining efficient HR processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Experience or knowledge in labour relations is considered an asset.
  • Deep respect for The Salvation Army’s mission, culture, and values.
  • Effective communicator with solid presentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Works well independently and in teams, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in changing environments and upholds high ethical and professional standards.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $66,831.48 to $83,539.35 with a maximum of $100,247.22.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
