JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning - Teaches in the clinical settings according to the nursing program course curriculum. Models critical and reflective thinking practices for students. Coordinates learning experiences with appropriate clinical staff. Shows enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and nursing that inspires and motivates students. Possesses personal attributes that facilitates learning, including caring, confidence, patience, honesty, flexibility and taking interest in, and respecting students. Engages in self-reflection and continued learning to improve teaching practices.
Facilitates Learner Development - Demonstrates use of adult learning principles and creative approaches and techniques to learning. Creates learning environments that facilitate students' critical thinking, self-reflection, personal goal setting and experience in the nurse role. Selects clinical assignments that correlate with and reinforce learning from the classroom and measures student ability to apply knowledge in nursing care situations. Models professional behaviors for students and colleagues.
Assessment and Evaluation - Plans clinical experiences to assist students to achieve course objectives. Supervises student clinical performance. Contributes to the evaluation of student performance by providing both verbal and written feedback to the Nursing Program Lead/Dept. Chair and the student relative to the student's achievement of established objectives. Maintains clinical experience records and grades in accordance with the nursing program policies.
Leadership - Demonstrates leadership behaviors at the point of care by promoting and providing guidance, resources, and knowledge for professional growth of students and colleagues. Participates in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions.
Professional Development - Demonstrates and maintains depth and breadth of clinical knowledge, skills and competence in the point of care setting. Draws on evidenced-based literature to improve teaching. Mentors novice instructors/faculty. Participates in personal and professional development opportunities to increase effectiveness in the role.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in related field. May require clinical license, certification or training
2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
