Description

Job Summary:   Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing two to three accounting support staff, performing month-end close procedures, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, collaborating on analyzing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Staff Accountant must have excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role. The Senior Staff Accountant must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a multifaceted business environment.


Job Tasks (Duties):

  •  
  •   Perform month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  •   Assist with membership coordinator as requested with aspects of membership accounting including but not limited to, ensuring accurate and timely processing of members statements, member receivables, onboarding new members, posting accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  •   Assist with day-to-day management of accounts payable.
  •   Oversees daily cash management activities to ensure accurate forecasting, reconciliation, and optimal utilization of company funds.
  •   Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  •   Collaborate with the Controller to prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including variance analysis and key performance indicators.
  •   Monthly bank reconciliations
  •   Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  •   Assist managers with inquiries regarding department expenditure.
  •   Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the club’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  •   Collaborate with the controller to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax filings and financial audits.
  •   Collaborate on developing and implementing internal controls to safeguard the Club’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  •   Stay up to date on industry’s best practices and changes in accounting standards to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements.
  •   Other duties as assigned by manager.

 

 

Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.

Reports to: General Manager

Supervises: 2-3 Accounting Support Staff

Qualifications


Education/Experience:  High School Diploma and 3-5 years of general ledger accounting experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting strongly desired but not required. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, and proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intaact, QuickBooks, Oracle, NetSuite), advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Office Suite skills, is required.


Language/Communication: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain open communication with managers and fellow coworkers. Must display professional demeanor and communicate in professional manner at all times.
