The IT Business Solutions Architect, Plan to Deliver will be a key contributor in the TOPPAN Packaging Americas Thermorformed & Flexible Packaging IT organization and specifically, within the Applications team, serving as a partner to the Supply Chain and Plant Manufacturing organizations to develop, deliver, and support solutions that are required across the totality of the business. This person must collaborate well with the business and the rest of the IT organization and have strong project management skills which enable the delivery of the technology solutions in their care.

This team is undergoing major transformation reimagining how to best bring value to our business partners across the plant operations and supply chain spectrum. This role will require a highly motivated, flexible, and curious individual that is continuously researching new technologies and contemplating how technology can improve our work environment. What you’ll be doing:

Maintain a Positive Relationship Between IT and the Business

  • Manage applications and architecture that support our global business partners
  • Develop relationships that will position IT as a trusted business partner
  • Work with the business teams to identify, plan and build business cases for enterprise application needs

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Develop and maintain the application architecture for Plan-to-Deliver (P2D) processes—covering production planning, job scheduling, manufacturing execution, inventory, and logistics.
  • Design system integrations between platforms using modern middleware, APIs, and SQL-based data models.
  • Translate business processes into robust, scalable system architectures.
  • Define data flow diagrams and interface specifications ensuring accurate movement of data across and between systems.

Delivery & Implementation Leadership

  • Lead the technical design and delivery of new applications or major system enhancements supporting production, quality, and supply-chain workflows.
  • Establish design standards and integration frameworks that ensure consistency across multiple plants and systems.
  • Oversee functional and technical testing to validate performance, data integrity, and system usability.
  • Partner with manufacturing/supply chain engineers and planners to translate operational and supply chain requirements into digital solutions.

Continuous Improvement & Digital Strategy

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, streamline and automate Plan-to-Deliver processes through data integration, analytics, and workflow automation.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., predictive maintenance, AI-enabled scheduling, IoT sensors) for manufacturing optimization.
  • Develop and maintain architectural documentation, data dictionaries, and system diagrams.
  • Collaborate with representatives of other IT/functional areas to ensure end-to-end process integration and consistency
  • Ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with established standards, methodologies, and best practice

Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration

  • Act as the technical liaison between business process owners, IT delivery teams, and third-party solution providers.
  • Lead architecture reviews and participate in vendor assessments for planning, manufacturing, and shipping applications.
  • Provide technical leadership during system implementations, upgrades, and plant rollouts.
  • Collaborate with supply-chain, operations, and quality teams to ensure solutions align with real-world production workflows.

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems integration, or IT delivery for manufacturing or process industries.
  • Strong SQL, data modeling, and system integration skills (APIs, ETL, or Azure Data Services).
  • Proven ability to translate operational workflows into digital solutions that drive measurable performance improvement.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) data structures and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of flexible and/or thermoformed packaging manufacturing processes (printing, lamination, slitting, extrusion, thermoforming, quality inspection, shipment).
  • Familiarity with cloud or hybrid architectures (Azure preferred).
  • Experience with Power BI, Qlik, or similar analytics platforms for production and supply-chain visibility.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $139,440 to $156,870, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
