In this role, you will provide technical leadership and execution, and be supporting HPE’s mission-critical customers, providing pre-installation configuration, technical strategies and direction, on-site integration, administration, and external customer enablement. The HPC environment includes multiple components such as operating systems (OS), workload managers, high-speed networks, clustered file systems, and HPC cluster managers.

As part of this role, you will work within a collaborative team environment where teamwork is essential. All team members are expected to be action oriented, maintain composure and contribute to the success of the project. This includes project planning and management, sharing knowledge, coordinating efforts, and ensuring smooth execution.

This role requires:

Top Secret Clearance, TS/SCI preferred

US citizenship is required

Security+ and Linux+ certification required

Location: Work Daily Onsite (Fulltime) Dayton, OH

Not a remote role

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the HPC solution availability to the customer by monitoring system health and hygiene of compute, storage, high-speed network fabric and cooling elements to maintain system operations. This includes daily analysis of outputs and capacity.
  • Review, resolve, and respond to client tickets in a timely manner.
  • Gather data, perform analysis, create and elevate HPE technical cases on unresolved issues to higher-level product SMEs and support groups and management as necessary to ensure timely resolution while ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Engage and actively manage technical support requests to ensure timely resolution and case closure within service level agreement (SLA) timelines, maintaining system availability.
  • Diagnose and resolve system hardware, software, and third-party application issues, providing detailed and thoughtful analysis of problems and solutions. Implement solutions, repairs, and workarounds as needed, fully documenting steps taken. Submit and track bugs to ensure proper resolution and updates.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding system software versions, product lifecycles, new releases, and third-party applications.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute monthly patch upgrades and biannual kernel upgrades across all systems.
  • Maintain the system security posture required by the client, ensuring compliance with security standards.
  • Manage system software and firmware revisions, including patches, updates, and OS upgrades.
  • Maintain availability reports to track SLA compliance.
  • Create and maintain site procedures, system diagrams, and configuration or support documentation.
  • Fully document solutions, repairs, and workarounds, ensuring all steps are logged as required.
  • Share troubleshooting techniques, new ideas, and utilities to enhance organizational knowledge and expertise.
  • Assist clients with application installations and manage software issues for both system and user applications.
  • Create and maintain effective customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of leading-edge technologies and industry/market domain knowledge.

    Required Experience:

    • In-depth Linux operating system (RHEL or SLES) knowledge, workload management systems (e.g.: Slurm, PBS Pro), parallel file systems, networking and security.
    • Hands-on experience with high-speed networking (e.g., InfiniBand, Omni-Path).
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to isolate and resolve intricate technical issues.
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with a strong emphasis on customer-focused communication along with the ability to communicate with internal and external senior management confidently and demonstrate the professionalism of the job family.
    • Ability to maintain system software, utilizing debugging tools for problem isolation; will perform software builds, software upgrades, and patch installation as needed 
    • Possess the organizational and analytical skills needed to effectively isolate both hardware and software problems and drive solutions through to conclusion 
    • Able to clearly document processes and procedures with a focus toward mentoring and knowledge sharing.

    Education and Experience Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related area of study OR equivalent work experience 
    • 8+ years HPC-related experience, ideally with large-scale HPC and parallel file system administration and support 
    • CompTIA Security+ Certification Required
    • CompTIA Linux+ Certification Required
    • TS Clearance Required - TS/SCI preferred

    Additional skills:

    • Flexibility to accommodate extended working hours when necessary to complete critical project milestones.
    • Experience with HPC cluster managers (e.g., Bright Cluster Manager, HPCM).
    • Expertise in clustered file systems such as Lustre, CXFS, GPFS, or StorNext.
    • Networking skills, including Ethernet and advanced network tuning.
    • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM tools.
