What you will be doing:
The Cultural Resources Program Manager position provides a unique opportunity to deepen expertise in archaeological and anthropological practices within the framework of cultural resource management laws, supporting the Alaska Army National Guard (AKARNG) by leading key programs and projects, overseeing planning, documentation, and contract management, and collaborating with various agencies to ensure environmental compliance, making it an ideal role for professionals passionate about Alaska's cultural history and its integration with modern operational needs.

 - Scientific Research: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of scientific principles related to environmental, ecological, biological, or physical science and the methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.
 - Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
 - Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

Position Duties
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in one of the following courses of study; anthropology, architecture, archeology, ethnology, linguistics of Alaska Native Languages, sociology, history, economics, business, public administration, international relations, political science, or related social sciences or natural history disciplines.
AND
One year of journey professional experience working with indigenous people and/or small communities in which the major ongoing responsibility is providing advice and technical assistance to the management of a tribal organization, local government, community or regional representative body, or Alaska Native entity on administrative, fiscal, or legal matters relating to grant administration, community development, local government management, tribal government management, management of an Alaska Native entity, or managing the identification and preservation of objects or sites with anthropological, archaeological, or cultural importance.
Special Note:
This position must be able to effectively assist in formulating and implementing policy in an independent environment with minimal oversight.

Other requirements of the position:To qualify for this position, the incoming team member must be willing and able to travel to remote field sites using boats, small aircraft, and helicopters, and be prepared to work in varying weather conditions, in confined areas, and potentially be exposed to wildlife. Demonstrating your flexibility and experience with such environments will support your application.
- Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training as required by 29 CFR 1910.120
 - Procurement Officer Level 1/2 for full performance of required functions or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
