Getting to Know the Opportunity:
The Voya Investment Management (IM) Equity team is seeking a talented summer intern for the Quantitative Equity Research group. Drawing on over 40 years of experience and an ongoing commitment to reliable investing, Voya IM has the resources and expertise to help long-term investors achieve strong investment results. As stewards of our clients’ assets, we always put their interests first, dedicating our expertise and quality resources on their behalf.
Voya’s Quantitative Equity Research team develops factor-driven stock selection models for systematic investment strategies and the fundamental platform using both traditional and alternative data sources. We are constantly evaluating new opportunities to incorporate more data into our investment process, requiring a consistent and efficient infrastructure to accelerate the research process.
During this paid 10-week program, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the research team to assist in developing, implementing, and enhancing quantitative models and analytics used to support the Equities platform at Voya Investment Management. Our team sits at the intersection of data science and investment analysis, working closely with fundamental sector analysts for cross-fertilization of ideas. We develop investment insights through exploring datasets and analytical methods to systematically identify alpha opportunities in different segments of the equity market. Research areas include identifying new alpha factors, model estimation (linear and nonlinear), portfolio construction, and risk management.
The Contributions You'll Make:
Explore targeted enhancements to our stock selection models and investment process using statistical analysis and a range of possible data sources, both financial and beyond, at the direction of an experienced team member.
Take initiative and explore opportunities to extend our computational infrastructure at any level, from optimizing our use of cloud resources to enhancing our data collection toolkit.
Continually grow your skills to enhance your technical expertise.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
Actively pursuing an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, Computational Finance, etc.
Must be passionate about applied quantitative modeling. Experience in data analysis, model estimation, and advanced data science techniques such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing a plus.
Strong coding skills with experience in programming languages used for data analysis such as Python (preferred) and SQL.
Clear and concise communicator, keen attention to detail and ability to analyze data
Must be a team player, have excellent problem-solving skills and able to work in fast-paced environment
Interest and/or experience in quantitative investing is helpful, but not required

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
