Position: Club Leader
Reports To: Area Director
General Purpose
The Club Leader plays a key role in launching and leading a brand-new Boys & Girls Club program serving middle and high school youth. Under the supervision of an Area Director, the Club Leader will plan, oversee, and administer all program activities, ensuring that the Club provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for teens to learn, lead, and thrive.
Program areas include Academic Success, Character & Leadership Development, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, The Arts, and Health & Life Skills. The Club Leader will recruit Members, hire and supervise staff, and establish strong relationships with school partners, families, and the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Program Leadership
Launch and manage all program operations for a new school-based Club serving middle and high school Members.
Implement locally developed and BGCA programs that foster belonging, usefulness, competence, and influence for youth.
Member Recruitment & Engagement
Recruit and retain Members through outreach, events, and partnerships with school staff and families.
Meet or exceed goals for membership, attendance, and program impact.
Environment & Safety
Maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive Club environment.
Utilize trauma-informed practices and positive behavior management strategies to promote respect and safety.
Community & School Partnerships
Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, teachers, school administrators, and community partners to enhance program success and visibility.
Staff Supervision & Team Development
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Club staff, volunteers, and independent contractors.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Fiscal & Administrative Management
Manage Club finances responsibly and within budget.
Complete all administrative duties on time, including:
Bi-weekly payroll
Weekly attendance tracking
Monthly performance reports and staff evaluations
Youth Development Focus
Create an engaging, teen-friendly culture that encourages leadership, voice, and choice among Members.
Ensure programming aligns with developmental needs of adolescents and supports social-emotional growth.
Additional Responsibilities
Child Nutrition Program (CNP)
Serve and supervise meals for Members in compliance with CACFP requirements.
Display required civil rights poster and daily menu at the meal service location.
Accurately complete and submit all required meal documentation to the CNP Manager.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, recreation, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with middle and/or high school youth in a group setting.
Experience supervising staff or leading youth programs preferred.
Experience launching or managing a new program site a plus.
Knowledge/Skills:
Strong understanding of positive youth development principles.
Proven ability to build rapport with teens and motivate participation.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data management systems.
Requirements:
Must pass background check and meet state/federal childcare licensing requirements.
CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
