Position Summary
United Aviate Academy (UAA) is actively seeking a qualified and reliable Recruitment and Engagement Specialist. The Recruitment and Engagement Specialist plays a key role in supporting organizational growth by sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent while ensuring new employees are successfully integrated into the company. This role manages the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle—from workforce planning and employer branding to candidate selection—and oversees onboarding activities to promote employee engagement, compliance, and retention.
Duties/Responsibilities
Recruitment
Develop and implement strategic hiring plans for all open roles
Source candidates through job boards, social media, career fairs, and industry partnerships.
Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate hiring manager interviews.
Partner with department leaders to assess staffing needs and workforce planning.
Build and maintain strong relationships with industry networks, recruitment agencies, and trade schools to expand talent pipelines.
Partner with hiring managers/team to develop clear and captivating job descriptions and candidate profiles (behavioral fit and technical qualifications) for our open positions
Be creative in sourcing passive candidates including freelance contractors through sourcing tools (e.g. LinkedIn/Indeed) and (e.g. JsFirm) to build a long-term pipeline and keep candidates engaged
Confidently manage the full recruiting lifecycle from sourcing to making an offer
Maintain prompt and organized communication and feedback throughout the entire recruiting process
Proudly communicate our offerings and be able to answer any candidate questions surrounding our benefits, compensation, culture, etc.
Onboarding & Employee Integration
Oversee pre-employment processes, including background checks and drug screenings
Lead new hire orientation sessions
Manage the distribution of uniforms, ID badges, and access credentials for new employees.
Serve as a key point of contact for new hires during their initial months, providing guidance and support for a smooth transition.
Create and oversee the onboarding process to ensure a seamless and engaging candidate to employee transition
Continuously enhance onboarding programs to improve employee retention and engagement.
Manage the new employee onboarding process via Workday
Compliance & Administrative Support
Provide support to the Sr HRBP with employee engagement, 30, 60, 90-day checks-ins and culture event planning
Maintain accurate recruitment records and hiring metrics.
Ensure all hiring and onboarding processes align with security regulations, labor laws, and UAA standards.
Craft engaging job posts, reflective of United Aviate Academy’s values and culture and advertise appropriately
Conduct candidate and employee satisfaction evaluations and workshops
Stay on top of competitive intelligence and research in regards to recruitment, development, and retention
Provide weekly pipeline reports with recommendations to drive improvements and provide insights into the candidate market
Responsible for managing and improving our recruiting and onboarding processes to drive efficiency
Actively promote open positions internally and encourage employees to become brand ambassadors
Strategize hiring events to increase employee referrals and build brand awareness
Assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
Act as a point of contact and build influential student relationships during the selection process
Utilize full range of recruiting methods including Internet and online database searches,
industry/trade/professional associations, and attending job fairs and conferences
Partners with United recruiters when needed
Ensures 100% data accuracy when filling requisitions to ensure timely onboarding of candidates
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Experience
2+ years of experience in a recruiting role with experience in proactive outreach to passive candidates and creating role-specific pipelines
Experience working in Workday is required
Experience with sourcing and building candidate lists via LinkedIn Recruiter
Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices surrounding recruitment and hiring
Understanding of web technologies; prior work with sourcing candidates
Highly proficient in compiling reports in spreadsheet software and putting together presentations or data metrics
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
Experience in an office/business professional setting and eager to develop best in class operations practices and systems
Education
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field preferred

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
