Position Summary:The Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care at assigned sites and staff. The Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the Residential BHT’s team in the delivery of quality patient care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The BHT Supervisor is responsible for supervision of all assigned staff and responsible for providing direct patient care for a minimum of 40 % of their assignment with the expectation that all BHT shifts are covered. The BHT Supervisor must be capable of independent action without losing sight of the policies, procedures, and values of Axis Health System.  

This position also provides service coordination for clients receiving services at our Residential Crisis Centers and participates as a member of the service delivery team to assist with the individual care plans for clients in accordance with policies, rules, regulations, and directives that apply.  

Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in one of the recognized mental health professions, a master’s degree is preferred.   

They will also have at least two years’ experience in a Mental Health or related setting. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. 

Salary:   

Starting pay is $24.63 (Based pay $22.13 + $2.50 Locale Differential = $24.63) and ranges up to $27.79 per hour (which includes a $2.50 locale differential at our Durango worksites) and considers preferred experience and preferred education described above.

Physical demands: Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have the ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employees must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable diseases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in patient condition.  Hearing must be sufficient to interact with a patient who may be unable to speak at a normal voice level.  Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist patients and handle required instruments. 

 

Required Skills: 

  • Ability to summarize service themes from a variety of client contacts and communicate suggested improvements for service delivery. 
  • Ability to communicate program needs to individuals and groups. 
  • Ability to communicate performance expectations and company policy to staff. 
  • Ability to facilitate and participate in meetings. 
  • Ability to provide leadership both independently and as a member of management teams in decision making, implementation, and quality compliance. 
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations, including behavioral health consumers and family members, staff and management, community groups and agencies. 
  • Knowledge of mental health medications and mental health diagnoses preferred. 
  • Knowledge of diverse issues including mental illness, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, TBI, dementia and developmental disabilities. 
  • Knowledge of community mental/physical health resources and their eligibility criteria and provide rapid linkage to treatment providers. 
  • Communicate confidential information only as required to perform job responsibilities. Working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Pt 2. 
  • Working knowledge of involuntary mental health holds (2CCR 502-1.27-65), and alcohol and drug Emergency Commitments (EC) and Involuntary Commitments (IC) preferred.  
  • Ability to follow established universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately. 
  • Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone.  
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability to access the internet.  
  • Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while respecting corporate policies, procedures, and priorities. 
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting. 
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, concentrate and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions. 
  • Ability to read and understand written materials. 
  • Must regard work as confidential. 
  • Must have a current driver’s license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance, and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS’ insurance agency. 
  • Ability to occasionally work beyond normal scheduled hours. 
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary. 

 

Additional eligibility requirements: Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening upon hire, de-escalation training within 90 days of hire, BLS PRO certification upon hire. 

 

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance. 
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines. 
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules. 
  • Crisis Professional Training completed within 6 months of hire.
