We are seeking a Tax Technology Director to join our Tax Department. This professional will lead the innovation and transformation of our internal tax function. This role is dedicated to scaling our internal tax technology practice while also reimagining how tax is delivered through automation, data, and emerging technologies. You will be a change agent, focused on modernizing legacy processes, piloting new tools, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across Citrin Cooperman’s tax organization.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap for internal tax technology capabilities (compliance, provision, indirect tax, reporting).
• Standardize and scale tax processes across business units, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
• Drive adoption of automation (RPA, scripts, workflow tools) to reduce manual effort and error rates.
• Identify and pilot emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, cloud platforms) to transform tax operations.
• Lead process re-engineering initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies and redesign workflows for the future.
• Establish an innovation mindset within the tax function and with other internal stakeholders across testing, learning, and scaling new solutions.
• Partner with IT and Finance to future-proof tax systems against regulatory, business, and technology shifts.
• Build robust tax data pipelines from ERP and financial systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
• Implement advanced analytics and dashboards to provide real-time insights to tax leadership.
• Champion data governance and stewardship to support scalability and decision-making.
• Embed strong internal controls, audit trails, and SOX compliance into all tax technology solutions.
• Ensure systems are updated to reflect regulatory changes and internal policy requirements.
• Establish best practices, playbooks, and reusable assets to scale the practice.
• Lead change management and training to drive adoption across the tax function.
• Define KPIs to measure efficiency, accuracy, adoption, and innovation impact.
• Report progress to tax leadership and firm executives, highlighting ROI, scalability, and transformation outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Information Systems, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 8-10+ years in tax and technology, with significant experience leading internal tax transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record of introducing new technologies or processes that transformed operations with an innovation mindset.
- Prior hands-on experience with ERP systems, tax provision/compliance tools, automation platforms, and data analytics.
- Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage change, and scale processes across large organizations.
