CAD Drafter

Job Summary:

The CAD Drafter is responsible for utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce detailed technical drawings and plans for both remanufactured and new shelter projects. This role provides critical support to the sales and operations teams by converting rough sketches, specifications, and verbal directives into accurate 2D or 3D models, facilitating the effective planning and execution of telecom shelters and related infrastructure. The position requires thorough knowledge of drafting standards, exceptional attention to detail, and advanced proficiency in specialized CAD software within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Create and revise detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) for telecom shelters, equipment layouts, and component assemblies.
• Generate fabrication and assembly drawings for internal manufacturing and field installation teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management to ensure designs meet specifications, building codes, and customer requirements.
• Maintain drawing standards and templates, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all engineering documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of BOMs (Bills of Material) and submittal packages for customer approval.
• Conduct as-built drawing updates based on field markups, change orders, and production feedback.
• Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and document revisions in coordination with production and quality control.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to confirm material specifications and compatibility.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product design and manufacturability.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of CAD software and other architectural drafting tools.

Education and Experience:

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (required).
• 2–5 years of experience in drafting, design, or engineering support within a manufacturing, construction, or telecom environment (preferred).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (required); familiarity with SolidWorks, Revit, or similar 3D modeling software is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasional visits to the production floor or field sites to verify measurements or review assemblies.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
