Description

The Floating School-Age Educator (Temporary November 1, 2025 - August 28, 2026), reporting to the supervision of the Assistant Director of School Age Programs is responsible for implementing programs and providing direct service to children across Erie Houses three comprehensive School Age Program locations. This position will work 5 hours a day during school days and 8 hours a day (full time) during summer/school vacation/holidays, contingent upon funding supporting whichever location has the greatest need.

This part time school year/full time /summer position is in partnership with the Expanded Learning Programs department, directly impacting our student population of primarily Latinx and immigrant families.

The Floating School Age Educators primary responsibility is to interact, supervise, and provide a safe learning environment to the children that we serve between our 3 different locations. The Floating School Age Educator must be adaptable, have excellent communication and provide an environment in which children and grow and learn. Experience working with children 5-12 years old is highly preferred.

The Floating School Age Educator provides an overall environment that is reflective of our multi-ethnic population, conducive to enjoyment, relaxation and socialization. Has well defined interest areas, and promotes recognition, acceptance and positive interactions among children and among children and staff.

Works with the Site Director in development, planning and implementation of the School Age Program. Actively participates with children ages 5-12 years old providing active supervision and facilitating enriching activities that promote academic achievement, social emotional development, and foster a sense of belonging.

Qualifications


  • Bilingual Spanish / English preferred
  • 45 hours of college courses with at least 6 hours in child development or related field OR 30 hours of college courses with 9 hours in child development/related field plus
  • Ability to use Microsoft Programs
  • Ability to report to 3 different locations in Chicago with limited notice (1313 N. Claremont, 1701 W. Superior, 1347 W. Erie)
