Position Goal:
This position supports our migrant students and their families. This position identifies and
recruits students who may qualify for the program and is responsible for managing information
for migrant students’ records. This position must maintain consistency with grant guidelines and expectations. This position is responsible for performing all functions necessary for the efficient operation of the department office.; providing exemplary customer service and consistently projecting a professional and postiitive image; working independently in the performance of secretarial duties for the Administrator and /or other department staff, and directing the clerical tasks for the deparment office.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to attend regional and state in-service trainings
- Two years secretarial experience required
- Previous office experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Google Mail, Calendar, and Drive; InTouch
- and Skyward
- Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility
- Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint
- Clearance
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
- Completion of all district-required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date
Essential Job Functions:
- Identify and recruit migrant students
- Initiate and maintain records for each migrant student
- Update enrollments and withdrawals
- Update records relating to health needs, attendance, student’s academic progress, etc.
- Authenticate student’s migrant status
- Inform migratory parents of community resources
- Attend parent meetings
- Acquaint parents of migrant students with the migrant program
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement and system-wide goals
- Comply with all district policies and procedures
- Comply with the Code of Professional Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee
encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will have flexible
hours and some evening meetings are required. Leadership initiative will structure job hours
and environment. Work environment will include a wide variety of school, management, and
community settings. Meetings will be held with many diverse constituency groups including
staff, students, parents, and community members networking in the region. Environments
requiring sensitivity, expertise in categorical program grants and requirements, and skills in
conflict resolution will likely occur. The employee is exposed to infectious diseases carried by
children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment
and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges. The
employee may be confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand
movements; experience constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to
stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for periods of time, and. The employee is required to
deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by
children.
Evaluation:
This position shall be evaluated periodically by the Director of Instruction & Categorical Programs pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The
process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above essential job
functions.
