Position Summary

The PRN Engagement Specialist brings fun, joy, and creativity to the Day Club experience by using their unique skills—whether in music, art, storytelling, history, or lifelong learning to inspire and engage members. This flexible, as-needed position supports Oakwood’s mission by leading interactive programs that stimulate the mind, nurture self-expression, and foster meaningful connections.


Engagement Specialists use their talents to create experiences that enhance members’ cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. Whether through a lively music circle, an imaginative art project, or a stimulating discussion on history or culture, the PRN Engagement Specialist helps members find joy, purpose, and community every day.


Responsibilities Include

ENGAGE

  • Develop and facilitate creative and educational programs based on your unique skills and interests (e.g., music, art, storytelling, history, or wellness).
  • Adapt and tailor activities to meet a range of cognitive and physical abilities, ensuring each member feels included and successful.
  • Encourage curiosity, creativity, and connection through engaging, interactive experiences.
  • Collaborate with the care team to share observations and support members’ individualized care plans.


SUPPORT

  • Assist members as they transition between activities throughout the day, providing encouragement and companionship.
  • Greet and assist members upon arrival and departure, helping them feel welcome and supported.
  • Support daily routines, including meal and snack service, and provide respectful assistance with personal care needs when required—always maintaining dignity and compassion.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment that celebrates creativity, connection, and joy.


Qualifications & Attributes

  • Talents, passions, or interests in one or more areas such as music, visual art, theater, storytelling, history, or lifelong learning.
  • The ability to teach, inspire, and engage others in both group and individual settings.
  • A positive, charismatic, and compassionate personality with a natural ability to connect and motivate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to create trusting relationships with members and teammates.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with flexibility to adapt to members’ needs and the rhythm of each day.
  • A team player who thrives in a creative, mission-driven environment.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; additional experience or education in the arts, music, or teaching is a plus.
  • Must have current DPS clearance and successfully pass a background check.
