Job Summary: This position operates various machines to produce parts and components used in the manufacturing of heavy equipment for the mining industry.
Job Responsibilities:
· Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC machine tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, saws, and presses.
· Read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and safety rules to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment.
· Inspect parts and equipment for defects or malfunctions; repair or replace parts as needed.
· Use hand and power tools to clear chucks, clean excess metal from part surfaces, and remove finished parts from machines.
· Maintain production records, keep time records, and maintain quality standards.
· Keep all machining areas clean, orderly, and free from hazards.
· Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment by lubricating, changing cutting tools, and making minor repairs.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent GED.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
· Have manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work controls, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
· Work safely at all times while utilizing good housekeeping practices.
· Be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Job Description:
As a CNC Machinist at FLSmidth, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision parts and components. You will work from blueprints, CAD models, and detailed work instructions to ensure that the products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret technical drawings, set up machines, make adjustments, and inspect finished products.
This position is for 1st shift, the hours are 6am - 2pm, Mon - Fri. Overtime is possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC turning machines (vertical, horizontal, 2-axis).
- Program, adjust, and optimize CNC machine operations.
- Perform quality checks using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machines, tooling, and processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and company standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve processes and efficiency.
- Inspect and maintain tooling and machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Follow all company policies and procedures for safety, quality control, and machine maintenance.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a CNC machinist or operator (minimum of 5 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, programming, and machine operation.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings.
- Experience with measuring instruments and inspection tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications or associate degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is a plus).
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with [specific machine types or software, e.g., FANUC, Haas, Siemens].
- Knowledge of advanced machining techniques such as multi-axis machining or EDM.
- Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or medical device industries.
