What you'll do:The Engineering security team is responsible for reducing risk across the wide range of applications and platforms that make up our ground segment. Specifically, our Automation and Ops team os responsible for:
- Working with other software teams to ensure they meet security requirements
- Writing and reviewing security automation for critical procedures
- Auditing configuration and logs to ensure compliance and identify problems
- Collaborating with architects on elements of system design
- Refactoring legacy systems to reduce technical debt
- Developing innersource libraries and operating software services to fill gaps
- Staying ahead of new developments and advisories from the security community
Our day to day experience is always changing. You can expect to work on multiple projects, all of which may involve:
- Crafting security automation software
- Testing integrations with other APIs, CICD platforms and deployment environments
- Meeting with other application teams to review configuration
- Triaging and investigating alerts from automated systems

- This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

Requirements:
Education: Completion of Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science or related field
Experience: This role is intended for someone with 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience
Additional:
Some knowledge of security fundamentals and the "secure by design" philosophy
Critical thinking skills
A willingness to question, collaborate and learn
- Previous Viasat internship experience
- Systems and networking experience
- Experience with CICD platforms (jenkins, github actions, etc)
- Experience with container systems (docker, kubernetes)
- Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc)
- Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills
