The Culinary Arts Instructor plays a vital role in shaping the skills and careers of aspiring individuals by fostering a deep passion for the culinary arts and upholding high standards of culinary education. Job Duties:Instructs the students in particular subject matter, assigns students appropriate tasks, and conducts relevant laboratory experiences in the assigned vocational area. Reviews tests and evaluates the students' work and knowledge in compliance with the appropriate criteria/guidelines, and counsels them about progress and performance. Assesses, develops, and maintains instructional materials, an inventory of supplies and equipment, and coordinates with academics in appropriate crosswalks. Prepares, maintains, and submits internal and external records and documents. Participates in various activities outside of the classroom as required. Maintains classroom discipline utilizing mandated criteria/guidelines. Establishes vocational linkages. Stabilizes and strengthens self-concept of all students in order to become functional and employable in society. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year university; six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two (2) years of experience supervising in cafeteria or community kitchen with some teaching experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No additional experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Oklahoma State Teaching Certificate preferred.
Possess or ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating preferred.
Possess or ability to obtain and maintain a ServSafe Certification and ServSafe Manager Certification.
Possess or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Food Handlers Card.

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
