Case Worker:The Human Services Division connects residents of Indian River County with critical support during times of financial hardship. Programs are designed to help eligible individuals and families maintain stability by providing assistance with essential needs such as rent, utilities, food, and prescriptions. The department also collaborates with local partners and community-based organizations that offer wraparound services to support the whole family, ensuring access to long-term resources that promote self-sufficiency, stability, and well-being.
Position Duties
- Conducts in-person appointments to assess client needs, determine eligibility for Human Services Programs, and authorize assistance in accordance with established guidelines, policies, and funding criteria.
- Issues vouchers for food and prescription assistance, paid for by the County, and coordinates with approved local providers to ensure prompt and accurate delivery.
- Provides referrals to community partners for needs beyond County services, connecting clients to additional resources and wraparound support to ensure comprehensive care.
- Supports the coordination and processing of reimbursement requests and funding documentation in collaboration with partner agencies.
- Collaborates with partner agencies to strengthen relationships, identify available funding sources, and streamline service delivery to better support clients.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date client records, case notes, and supporting documentation in the department’s electronic case management system.
- Participates in community outreach and engagement efforts to increase awareness of available services and promote access to resources.
- Performs general administrative tasks such as data entry, reporting, answering phone calls, and office support duties.
- Responds to urgent and emergent client needs and assists with special projects or emergency response efforts as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in case management, social services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
None.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Knowledge of local assistance programs and eligibility criteria.
- Familiarity with community-based resources and wraparound service models.
- Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive client information while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Skill in maintaining organized records, meeting deadlines, and working independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HMIS System
