Job Title: Electromechanical Assembler III

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Objective: Plan, schedule and assemble or modify electromechanical and electronic equipment or devices and systems and train other assemblers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assemble parts and fasten to sub-assemblies or finished assemblies by using hand tools and power tools.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and Build of Materials (BOMs).
  • Review blueprints, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings for accuracy. Inform Group Leader and/or Supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Perform soldering, from basic to more complex tasks including cable assembly and transistor/IC replacement.
  • Examine parts for defects.
  • Enter information into production logs and databases.
  • Repair and/or replace defective parts or units rejected by test personnel
  • Route and attach (Point-to-Point) wires and connectors to electronic circuitry, and/or sub-assemblies.
  • Attach hardware and close units after final test and calibration.
  • Utilize test equipment, such as multimeters and test fixtures.
  • Pack and label units for shipment or stock.
  • Test and verify new production units assembly ease and manufacturability
  • Help plan and schedule pulls and production builds.
  • Train other assemblers in new units and processes
  • Complete associated paperwork, such as stock requisitions, quantity moves, calibration data, inventory label and shipping paperwork, and enter into databases where applicable.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of production according to established standards
  • Adhere to safety policies and housekeeping procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to setup and work from a work cell Kanban system. Basic working knowledge and principles are required.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and Build of Materials (BOMs).
  • Working knowledge of computers and databases, including programs such as MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to carry out instruction in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to effectively communicate any issues or problems to the Group Lead and/or Supervisor (i.e. wrong or defective parts received, incorrect drawings, BOMs).
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Intermediate soldering skills.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Moderate math skills are needed, along with the ability to utilize basic hand tools.·

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervision responsibilities; however, may be assigned tasks related to training or guiding others.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and operating manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and managers, and other employees within the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve day-to-day problems that arise regarding materials and equipment in order to avoid causing bodily damage, damage to equipment and materials, producing materials that will later need to be reworked or scrapped.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands include ability to frequently lift 10 lbs. and occasionally be able to lift up to 20 lbs.; Standing for long periods of time. Effectively utilize basic hand tools to make on-going adjustments to machinery to ensure that it operates safely and does not create harm to people or products.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Degree
  • 5+ years' experience related experience
