POSITION SUMMARY:

A Shading Operator is responsible for adjusting production batch color and completing quality control testing of production batches. Position will also support job activities in other Operations areas including, but not limited to Small Paint Plant, Large Paint Plant, Waterbase, & Milling.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform testing on finished products, including:

      • Viscosity

      • Solids

      • Grind check

      • Wet resistivity

      • Film thickness

      • Cure testing

      • Other required tests

    • Adjust products that do not meet company or customer specifications, with guidance from the Leadman.

    • Prepare and apply paint samples using:

      • Handspray

      • Graco Pro-Static

      • ABB Bell-type spray guns

      • Manual and Spraymation equipment

    • Develop color reports using:

      • X-Rite

      • Minolta

      • X-Rite i5 color measurement systems

    • Make production batch adjustments for color in both Small and Large Paint operations.

    • Identify potential off-quality products and initiate corrective actions per company protocols.

    • Operate equipment in Small and Large Paint Plants to perform batch additions.

    • Prepare color panel packages for customer shipment.

    • Use company IT systems to complete shading orders:

      • SAP

      • Microsoft Access Database

      • Microsoft Office

    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in lab and production areas.

    • Ensure proper maintenance of all testing and spraying equipment.

    • Support operations outside of the Shading department as needed.

    • Follow all Company Safety Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

    • Move waste from generation point to designated 90-day Storage Area.

    SALARY RANGE:

    $21.04 to $31.16. Compensation for this role is negotiable based on experience and skill set.

    Additional Competencies: 

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Passing Color Test Score (Score under 30).
    • Passing Math Test.
