JOB SUMMARY

The team member will be responsible for engineering drawing interpretation, performing dimensional layouts using basic measurement tools, working with various internal teams such as engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing to establish root cause analysis and corrective actions for part failures, and performing daily activities such as processing scrap and gauge management. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work from engineering drawings and specifications.  Follow written and/or verbal instructions and perform dimensional inspections using measurement and test equipment such as:  micrometer, caliper, dial indicator, height gauge, profilometer, bore gauge, gauge blocks, surface plate, plug gauge, thread gauge, optical devices, and hardness tester.    

 

  • Evaluate machined components for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, homogenizers, SSHE, and end items for conformance to dimensional, visual, operational, and test specifications.
  • Evaluate purchased and manufactured materials to applicable drawings, specifications and quality requirements while maintaining records of acceptance, rejection, and findings.
  • Interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and routing sheets to determine conformance to standards and tolerancing.
  • Process internal and external scrap daily, including problem solving as applicable and all inventory transactions.  Clearly communicate scrap details to other team members such as Supplier Quality, Material Review Board, and Purchasing.
  • Maintain gauge calibration program including interfacing with external calibration supplier and all internal gauge users.
  • Support containment and problem-solving activities associated with customer complaints.   
  • With minimum supervision, apply knowledge and experience to solve customer and internal problems to ensure product quality.    
  • Comply with all quality, safety regulations, and procedures (ISO 9001). 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, routings, work orders, and engineering specifications.
  • Able to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities and/or projects.
  • Working knowledge in the use of micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, hardness testers, profilometers, bore scopes, optical comparator, and other related equipment.
  • Effectively communicate, both verbally and in written format, quality requirements and nonconformances to managers, supervisors, operators, engineers, and team members.
  • Ability to maintain clear and concise records of work.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with Manufacturing to ensure quality requirements are understood and met.
  • Good communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills and resourceful ability and desire to manage competing priorities. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Computer knowledge is required: SAP, MS Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience using basic inspection tools required.
